I posted this a while back in the Audi forum - loved it, but to me it simply says that in order to make your R8 V10 sound like it should, you have to rip half the exhaust system away.

If you wanted to be picky, it could rub up against false advertising - people expecting the V10 to sound like that out of the box.

P~
They do sound like that though..?
Yes they do if you put a straight through sports exhaust on it like this one

I hate that Peugeot advert. Is the guitar meant to sound like a 4 cylinder engine, or an F1 car, or a bike? As it happens, it sounds like cats fighting, or possibly foxes. Or fingernails down a blackboard.

I saw The Audi ad for the first time about a month ago, while at the cinema waiting the 20 mins of bull to pass before the film to start.

On the big screen with the surround sound, it was amazing. As soon as I got home I was on the interweb, and watched it 7 or 8 times.

Audi ad is the best (did they short shift from 2nd to 3rd or is it my speakers)
I'm waiting for the F-Type ad to be pulled for 'glamourizing speed' (like the GT86 ad)
but the Pug/guitar just doesn't work...

The R8 advert instantly made me want one when I saw it. What an amazing advert. I bought an A6 because I liked the advert so much and the car once I drove. I'm now thinking about maybe a TTRS.

The Jag advert was great too.

The R8 tagline did instantly make me think of Alan Partridge though, "I evolve but I don't revolve" laugh

Madza's MX-5 add over the pond is one of my favourites:

But the current R8 ad is amazing, love the little pun at the end!

Big shout for the Honda dream advert, lots of cool fast Honda's in that one.

R8 Ad on the home surround sound was an unexpected treat during an episode of defiance on Syfy.

First saw the R8 advert in the cinema. Through that massive surround sound rig, the feeling was astonishing!

I was disappointed by that advert too. Every guitaring petrolhead knows you only need the tremolo arm to do car sounds biggrin

On an angrier note, that guitar / slide sounded utter crap, and the moron playing the guitar seemingly has no idea what a car sounds like to even try to mimic it properly... Dross of the highest (or should that be lowest?) order. He's also had to put a hairband around the strings because he lacks the prowess to properly mute the strings he isn't using.

Audi advert is definitely a nice change, hopefully it starts a trend and they do the same with their other performance engines smile

hehe They couldn't get a Gibson, merely a cheap modern imitation of the legend with the electronics all wrong!

Conveys to me that the 208 GTi will be nothing like the original. From the car reviews, it seems an accurate ad! wink

I first saw the Audi on the rollers ad in the cinema when I went to watch Trance.... The ticket price was justified right there with the 5.2 V10 howling through the cinema speakers.

I tried to explain to the missus why it was so good; failed miserably.

the Audi advert however, when I first saw it, or rather heard it, I was gobsmascked, I have never been taken back by the R8, i have always thought it as being dull, and a bit of a show-offs car.

this advert however has completly changed my mind, THE NOISE! Mmmmm

Anyone notice that there is only hydrogen flame from the leftbank at about 45 sec. Deliberate mapping, or a trick of the light?
Hydrogen flame?

If you mean the blue surely that is simply a pre-mixed flame. Just like with a Bunsen burner, pre mixed is blue, diffusion flame is yellow and a bit sooty due to incomplete combustion.

Pretty sure it's this. F1 car's rarely spit yellow flames anymore too.....almost always blue backfires which you can see in the night races.
