In51ghts comments are always telling and to the point, and IMHO, have always been open to comment upon but in the recent few pages his contributions have been passed over by some as if he was just another armchair expert who thinks they know so much more than actually do.
That's because whilst In51ght constantly alludes to his greater inside knowledge, in recent weeks he's offered very few actual facts. On that basis, he is in effect no more insightful than an armchair expert, hence being treated like one.
Because of the position he was in, with lots of inside knowledge, I don't blame him for keeping discrete. If an eventual saviour comes along, his knowledge will be invaluable.

From what I have heard, rocket development was going to be the big expense. The team was also kicking around ideas of using electric power for the peroxide pump instead of a V8.combustion engine. The rocket was going to have to be even larger for the 1000 mph attempt...….even possibly needing a redesign in the rear of the vehicle to fit it. I think most of the money would have went to Nammo…..and the 2 years of further testing/running to get to 1000.
Ahh, I can start to see some bigger numbers now. Especially with what’s added by Insight about the MoD engines on loan.

Thank you.

Also just seen the £250k figure bandied about for the car. Ouch. The Autocar article looks like Green is looking for a Hail Mary. He seems to be more a front man than Noble latterly?

As you well know, I wasn't involved in the project. I'm not claiming to have inside knowledge though. My point is that it's pretty pointless of In51ght to keep babbling on about how much he knows when he's not able or willing to disclose anything!
Babbling? Really?

Sorry but I'm afraid you're going to have to try much harder than that to make yourself seem at all coherent or understandable.

I suspect the project has hardly moved forward in any significant engineering aspects at all since Insight felt he had to leave so his knowledge is probably as good as it gets; some theoretical engineering and planning might have gone on but I doubt it.

Possibly a combination of Noble feeling.... pretty down and not wanting to speak, and that Green is seen as separate from the project's management and therefore better to promote it?

I have nothing to prove to anybody on here so I'll share what I want, when I am happy/comfortable to do so, predominately as I am quite frankly, literally heartbroken. I went through (as did many of the team) financial & personal pain, alot of it at times, at one point in 2016 I was really not very well, I broke down at many occasion whilst at home due to the pressures.

So sorry if I'm not answering every question you see fit ask, oh, and may I point you towards this, which was in reply to a scathing post I made to you?

You can point out what you like, and I will continue to make whatever points I believe in. I might make a decision to ignore someone and not respond, but it's my free choice to return if I feel I wish to respond to something. You're not in charge, Mr In51ght, and I don't answer to you.

To paraphrase Musk said "if I wanted to build a 1000mph car I'd do it myself, in a year"

And that, gentlemen, would be a crying shame.
When I say gentlemen, I do not include the small numbers of posters with over inflated opinions of the value of their criticisms which is, quite frankly, appalling.
From the outset, this has been a fascinating thread and the saga is not yet over. I for one would like to follow it further.
I would hazard a guess that the antagonistic posters only joined in when Bloodhound went into administration.
I don't know how to back up that assertion without trawling through the whole thread.
Am I wrong?

In51ght started this thread. He was also lead mechanical engineer on the team.....and designed many mechanical and structural components of the vehicle. Previously worked for the Williams F1 team. I thank him for his contributions.....it has given us all a detailed inside look into the construction of the car. He even shared a bit about the trials and failures of the rocket fuel pump I believe..... We got a first class inside look into this vehicle because of him.

Going into details of why the project failed from a management viewpoint, is not what I would even remotely expect at this time. Noble can answer to that at a later date.

The problem partially lies in...

1. Would the MOD loan the EJ200's out again, to any potential buyer, I do not know the answer to that I'm afraid.

2. Any future owner would need most of the engineers back if they were to stand any chance of running that car SAFELY.
The answer to 1 possibly lies in not wanting to be seen to kill it/how much they can be persuaded that the education aspect is still worth while (which would then involve someone keeping all of that going) vs the cost of re-engineering using a different engine (not cheap/easy)
The second by the sound of it would find enthusiasm but require lot of goodwill trades guarantees i suspect....would you go back under the right conditions?

Re-engineering the upper chassis to accept a different jet would probably be near impossible, having designed the entire structure of the upper chassis I can tell you how close all of the clearances are.

I don't believe there is another engine that will fit & have the same thrust.

I had not seen the sale price for the car, but I looked it up after you mentioned it.....313,000 US dollars for the car is insanely cheap! But,there is SO much more to do. As In51ght mentioned, another jet engine won't fit. The rocket(s) don't yet exist for it specifically. The car still lacks CF components like the fin strake, airbrake doors, rear wheel fairings, etc.

I hope someone buys it with intent to run it.. and the gov't will still loan out the engines.…..at least to break the current record

Certainly it's fair to say that if you said it was a folly that pissed millions up the wall, you got shouted at. I did.
