This area is finished now so there are houses on either side of the roundabout. The white boxes represent the regular parking scenario that you'd find in my estate, I'll get some pictures of it one day. It's part terrible planning by the developer part idiots living here. The site itself is compact and all available space is used to the maximum, in some cases I think it to be dangerously so (some streets don't have pavements, just houses and then road). Many houses are only given one parking space and often have need for two or three vehicles and there's little or no thought given by the developer or some of the people buying here where to put the excess parking requirement.

The above roundabout really takes the mick though as the houses on the corners are 5 beds. Yup 2x 5 bed houses per corner. Each with one space and a garage.

Madness
And this is exactly why I don't consider these new build estates when looking for a house to buy - great for land yield, horrible to deal with on a day to day basis... frown
+1 and it looks like it'll only get worse when they build the prison on the undeveloped land opposite laugh

Saw this total tool the other day, obviously in the closest row to the supermarket entrance.

In fairness would you really want a Q7 parked snugly next to your car?

I don't think for one minute he was thinking of others. smile If you're going to do this why do it near the entrance, better still just go to the end of the row and stick two wheels onto the white hatching. That way you don't look a selfish teewat or risk disgruntled chavs running a key down the side of your P&J.

Was just about to post that.

Knowing that car park well, the closer to the petrol station in the background, the more room you'll have for dodgy parking.

I'm going to walk around my estate later, like the above post around new build estates, mines pretty bad

This road in particular now everyone's moved in, quite regularly I struggle to get passed when two vans are parked on either side of the road.

Yes, fortunately I live in the better part that has parking for more than one car.

Absolutely.

We looked at a 4 bed new build last summer - property itself was nice and seemed well finished. The estate was on the outskirts of a city and not within walking distance to any huge employer, or a train or bus station. Thus a car per 17-70 year old adult is pretty essential.

The house we viewed along with most of the 3, 4 and 5 bed houses on the development only had one parking space and a single garage. Immediately we realised the potential issue there and moved on.

Fast forward to now and a drive through the estate for a nosey confirms our theory - absolutely hellish, can hardly drive the streets, cars abandoned everywhere, grassy areas chewed up, pavements blocked. The place looks terrible.

Well to be fair to the developers, it's not as though the planner left enough space either side of the road to provide at least some parking for the pedestrians owners. Oh hang on, he did, but some prat decided to make it "green space".

How long before that grass turns in to a tyre churned patch of mud, once people realise that their only option is to park on top of it?

167 houses are currently being built on a small field behind my house. I'm guessing that this will mean 167 cars, at minimum if not more. You'd probably fill a large portion of the field now with 167 vehicles, let alone when it's full of bricks and concrete.

Seriously, hard hard can it be?:

And one of someone indulging in tyre torture:

Although, looking at the rest of the car, I am not sure they care terribly much about driving:

Presumably the grass is there to enforce an enormous service change on all the home owners.

That being said, where exactly is everyone supposed to park

Surprisingly, no one parks on the grass and haven't done in the 8 years those houses have been built.

There's certainly a service charge, £300 per year! But they all have one set garage/space behind the house in a communal car park.

In his defence, he'd just popped in for a sandwich.
