The BAD PARKING thread [vol3]
Discussion
A neighbour suddenly had a wooden building put up on what used to be a bit of waste land next to their garage. Later we all got flyers advertising a nail business she has set up in there.
Planning seems to have been submitted retrospectively and approved, the documentation says there is parking for 4 vehicles.
The blue TT parks there all the time and is annoying as it's on the corner approaching a junction but now the business is up and running it's joined by customers which makes progress in and out of the road even more fun.
Presumably they know someone in the planning department.

Parked as far from the door as possible, causing no inconvenience to anyone and needs the room it's taking up, yet I feel compelled to share....
As I own something very similar I can testify that they need at least two spaces to accommodate the length of them at 22'. There's just no way around it.They can just fit in between the white lines usually being 8' wide but opening the door could present a problem if someone parks right next to you...

If this situation is creatiing a nuisance etc, (and it will only get worse as the business establishes and grows) ,contact highways / local authority to see what can be done. If necessary a petition will help. A lot will depend on the local feeling towards the business.Planning seems to have been submitted retrospectively and approved, the documentation says there is parking for 4 vehicles.

Did you get the opportunity to object through the retrospective planning application? All close neighbours should have recieved notification.

It seems the two houses directly next to the person in question supported the application but we received nothing in the post and by the time I saw what was up on the planning portal it was all approved, not that I would have objected, I would have just asked about the location of the parking spaces they said were available, especially as their two cars are always on the drive and the TT is always on the road outside (he lives next door).
There seems to be a condition that she can only have one customer at a time so things shouldn't escalate too much, I suspect it's only me and my enhanced sense of right and wrong that has even noticed, especially given most of the neighbours also park with no consideration for anyone else.

The "I'm alright, Jack" attitude that seems to be becoming all too prevalent these days, and which really yanks my chain. The shopping street near where I live has broad pavements at each end, so people regard them as places where they can park, regardless of the fact that access is then restricted for those with pushchairs, wheelchairs, the elderly etc, and needless to say the pavement is cracked and uneven as it is built to take people, not cars.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
