Looks awesome (and I, like Chris, really disliked the original)

Am I the only one who liked the looks of the old one? Definitely bias, as my dad has one but in all seriousness, whilst it's not exactly the prettiest Ferrari, its not exactly ugly either!

just a pity that anyone with legs, can't use them, if you have a 6ft tall person in front - really struggle to see the point of them.
I'll have you know, I am a 6 foot guy and have sat in the back of the original California, with another 6 footer in the passenger seat in front - though admittedly it was the most uncomfortable 30 minutes of my life, and most of my body was twisted over onto the other rear seat!

you're not alone, the original is much better looking, this facelift suffers from the modern car design disease of trying to look 'muscular' & 'agressive'

give me the original as far as looks are concerned, and as for that gear box is there any point in changing gear yourself if you are getting the same amount of pull from each gear?

Well I certainly prefer the facelift - in fact I could even imagine me swapping my Aston for one once the prices have softened a bit. I agree with Chris, probably the most convincing makeover I've seen (I hope it stands up to scrutiny in the flesh...) and thank god they've got rid of those hideous stacked tail pipes from the original!

I've always liked the original as well. I'm hoping this new model may bring prices down in a few years time. I need to take my 2 children out in the car and currently one would have to stay at home with my 360 I currently have !.

It is a vast improvement on what went before but, regrettably, I still see a Lexus SC when I squint.

Nice and quick. But the big gaping mouth makes it look like a bland Maserati.

I like the original too, and most of the critics seemed to focus on the soft suspension, which can always be changed for an harder aftermarket setup if you want

Looks nice from the side, the front grill looks a bit strange, but it's better than the previous version which looked like an over sized Hyundai.

Finally, they've got the styling right on a car in the current range.

Sounds like an improved power plant too, not that there was much wrong with the old 4.3!

I'll take mine in Grigio Ferro, black roof & grey wheels please smile

Great informative and reflective review as always Chris smile Keep doing what you do - we are many of car enthusiasts (and Porsche/Ferrari especially) who regard you very highly.

Thin end of the wedge. In 20 years cars with screaming na engines, will be worth a bomb...

Same swept capacity and number of turbos as the MP4-12C - would have been interesting to see how Chris thought a brand new Fandango engine compared against something pretty similar on paper but 3 years old from McLaren.

And using your logic, does that mean you think F40s and 288 GTOs will be worth any less?

Indeed, and with a fair chunk more power in the new 650S!

The limiting of torque does sound rather unusual though, not sure I'd be keen on that (if I was ever in the market for a new Ferrari!)
Agree entirely. No need to limit torque at all - unless its the traction control activating.
