Badly modified cars thread Mk2

Ok then, who developed the "stuck on" aerodynamics ?
How else would they be attached??You're completely missing the point. Just because someone has added something which doesn't improve performance, it doesn't make it bad.
But let me guess, you think a mustang with racing stripes is "badly modified".

Aero bits that are just "stuck on" for cosmetic reasons are at best just added weight but in reality are normally air-brakes, as such they are bad modifications. You're completely missing the point. Just because someone has added something which doesn't improve performance, it doesn't make it bad.

Paint in stripes does not detract from anything, not even pink ones even if they challenge good taste most of the time.

i think they look pretty st to be honest - they are the same thing to me. However, even setting the looks aside, cosmetic mods which detract from drivability and performance are the antithesis of what many people on PH would hold up as 'a good thing'.
Then the thread title is wrong and needs to be changed to "Hate On All Cars With Cosmetic Modifications".Strudul said:
I'm just sat here wondering if you would all turn your nose up at an RWB Porsche and how quickly you'd get laughed out of the room by any car enthusiast...
Most RWB cars are mechanically big standard. They're a slightly more expensive version of a Corsa with a massive body kit. Still going to perform worse than an unmolested one as an actual performance vehicle. Most of them look pretty st too. The narrower 993 GT2 aping ones look fairly decent but the hugely wide ones like Natty Dread are fking tragic.
My car was optioned with heated learger seats which just add extra weight and hinder performance. I guess my car is badly modified then.
Can't believe you guys are unable to differentiate between "badly modified" and "cosmetically modified" and can't appreciate the skill and expertise required for some builds. Not everything has to be about performance.

Well yes, I would turn my nose up at this effort, so I'm clearly not a car enthusiast...Personally, whilst there are a couple of RWB cars that look ''alright'' (to me as someone who's not an enthusiast either) the whole RWB Instagram frenzy is lost on me and judging by the endless videos if the guy chain smoking, using rattle cars of satin black paint and chopping out great sections of metal, it hardly makes me think of a quality conversion. Especially when they fill the arches with wheel and tyre combinations so huge they spoil the handling. It's all a bit stance for the wealthy. RWB aren't the first to ruin old Porsche though. Uwe Gemballa was doing it years ago.

Looking back through the thread it would appear it's just about trashing anything that isn't stock
Why don't you go have a look at the "Pictures of Decently Modified Cars Vol. 2" thread, to which some of us are regular contributors?https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=11...
Plenty of cosmetically modified stuff in there. Difference is that it's usually well executed and not visually cack.
Yep we just hate anything modified don't we?
Numpty.

That BMW is on huge wheels and low-profile tyres that will destroy the ride, while that VXR220 has all the "stuck-on aerodynamics" (BGW, pointless cosmetic vents, splitter and side steps) that the S2K was being accused of.
The only difference is that S2K has RB / LW / SD style over-fenders.

That is fking awfulA mix of the worst bits of a 356 and a 911.
What a waste of a potentially nice car
Edited to add
I am not against modding per se, but I really cant see the point of this abortion.
My TVR has some modifications, some cosmetic, some mechanical but I am sure there are no modifications that dont improve the car in some way.
