What ever it is, it's not a Maestro as it's about 10 years too old and RWD
Well according to the father of the lad who built it, it is. And it's running a Rover V8 with RWD. rear axle is a jag IRS, common enough hot rod combo with the rover v8

at that BMW. I'm not surprised it's been in a garage 15 years. They couldn't get the fuel pump in after they fitted the rear arches (term used loosely)
Edit - probably why the roof is left still down - it's the only way of getting in as the outside handles are so far back in the door
A few pics copied over, if anyone isn't able to access the link.
I’m speechless, what on earth were they thinking of when conceiving that utter monstrosity.Edit - probably why the roof is left still down - it's the only way of getting in as the outside handles are so far back in the door

Struggled where to put this, dread to think of the weight loading and stress on the poor beetle! But like the idea very novel!
Beetle fifth wheel trailer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpwH9WeVEfU
I have read that the actual load on the roof was not more than 50 Kg, the max. allowed for a roof carrier.Beetle fifth wheel trailer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpwH9WeVEfU
I thinky they were of french or dutch origin and could be towed by many type of cars.
The roll induced by driving physics would be interesting, I think, even when the trailer was balanced properly.
