Taking the Monaro up to that area on Monday for a week of touring.

Weather forecast isn't great but can't wait. Hope to put some pictures on my thread in reader's cars as we go (subject to phone signals and wi-fi)

Scotland, particularly the western half, is the second most beautiful country on Earth (Afghanistan no.1).

Well worth a visit and drive.

Except when there is a landslide! Doesn't seem to have been too bad this year.

Back up to Skye this weekend for a while, so anyone see a Jag X type estate with a PH sticker around South Skye, gizza wave!
Cannot get the family & dog in the Tiv unfortunately.

We holidayed in Carradale on the Kintyre peninsula for many years. I took my 3 door Cossie there once, which was a hoot. We returned to it from a shopping expedition in Tarbert one day to find it surrounded by a huge crowd, including an old lady who was wrenching at the rear "tea-tray" spoiler and announcing that she really didn't like this bit. I think they thought it had landed from Mars.

BTW, the B842 down the Eastern side of Kintyre, from Tarbert to Campbeltown is a much more interesting drive than the A83 down the Western side. But watch out for the locals, who take their half out of the middle and assume there's no-one coming the other way.

Live very near here so always try and get up there when I can. Love the road along the side of loch Eck, where the road twists and turns with ups and downs all mixed in but not uncomfortably so - road skirts level with the water at some points which is cool. Also try these roads:

the B828/B839 to lochgoil what a hoot more like an alpine pass in some places.

Another really good but short road is the A817 from Garelochead near faslane, which takes you out at A82 near Loch Lomond Gold course, it's got a big dipper with a sweeping bend and then a pretty straight exit all along the hillside, with turns slack enough that you don't really need to slow but enough to make the journey lively.

I stayed at Cameron house in Feb this year. The roads heading north from the hotel are a joy to behold!

Incredible scenery

Aha, I had wondered if this would appear on here.

One of you had a go at trading paint with my mates Fiesta as you were taking a cut over the white lines, gave us a shock. smile
