There is usually one in the Porsche paddock at Silverstone Classic.

Cool. I have had my Pistonheads PM function disabled, so we'll have to figure out another way of communicating. It may take a bit of time - present weather not ideal - but leave it with me. smile
Speechless flemke honestly. Thank you so much.

Whenever is best for you is fine by me, I'll have to think of something to repay you for your kindness smile

No interest in the i8. I have not driven one, but the concept does not appeal. I recently drove an i3 and thought it was awful.
If other people want to drive EVs and hybrids, that's fine, but I'll stick with ICEs.
On the aesthetic level alone: contrast the beauty of crankshafts, camshafts, valves, pistons, con-rods and gear clusters with prosaic electrical windings that look like they belong in a vacuum cleaner.

The official fuel economy for the i8 is 135mpg (because it's measured over a short test distance and starts off with a fully charged battery and only petrol usage is measured); Car Magazine got a genuine 35mpg on their long-term test car.

Test?

Eta: I just tried to go onto the most recent active page, but got what was essentially a blank. After further experimentation, it seems that the thread has been shortened by about three pages. I presume that this is because someone deleted about 50-60 of his/her posts.
Not a problem, but was slightly confusing.

There's one going on in Barbados, not that we're making it much of a test for the WIndies.

Oh, goodness, please let's not get into cricket. I'd rather watch lawn bowling, or maybe even darts. wink
The best thing I can think of about the sport of cricket is that nickname: "Windies". From there it's all downhill.

Found a 1996 journal paper about the working methods of one Gordon Murray. Hopefully it will be of interest (apols if it's already well-known). There's some insight on the thinking behind F1's steering column/rack attachment which I have not seen mentioned before.
Here's the link, not sure for how long it will be valid: https://we.tl/t-GdyEkpDzf5.

Just downloaded it (have not read yet), but it says the link will be valid for another 7 days.

I've had a quick check through my photo archive to see how many F1s I've photographed. Sadly we rarely took a camera to all the 90s GT races - though we do have a few from FIA GT at Donington in 1997 taken by my dad on his old OM-10. There are multiple shots here: http://www.motorcardiaries.co.uk/2019/mclaren-f1-r... but individual chassis below. Thanks to Erik for identification! I reckon I must have seen around 35 F1s in person down the years - maybe a few more.

Pleasure, mate - I've thoroughly enjoyed it! Just gutted I wasn't allowed to take photos of Lawrence Stroll's 23R when I bumped into it at Mont Tremblant a few years ago. We saw that car win at Silverstone in the rain in 1997 and I would have loved to grab a few shots but sadly the mechanics shooed me away.

I always thought the GTR never looked better than in longtail form and Davidoff livery. So elegant.
