Thank you for the info. This thread is a wonderful mine of information.
That race series looks amazing as well.... R33 GTR(?), Supra and F1? Ridiculous.
To me, probably the greatest racing series F1 participated in was the BPR. Everything from 930 Turbos to 911 GT1, F40s, Venturis, Marcos, Lotus Elise and Esprit GT1.... That race series looks amazing as well.... R33 GTR(?), Supra and F1? Ridiculous.

Yes, it was absolutely wonderful in terms of cars (and tracks as well I seem to remember).Didn't it also include Diablo GTRs?

You'll have to give us the page numbers though, so we can go straight there without risking landing on Coucher.
Funny and true...ArgonautX said:

I think some research on YouTube is in order. That will cheer me up after a beastly week... Month... You get the idea. TyrannosauRoss Lex said:
Indeed. I think if I'm going to trust anyone with a very expensive car to do a good, honest review and being totally safe with the car then it would be Harry Metcalfe.
RE the clutch Flemke - I guess that is something you need to decide whether you feel it is something that could be learned relatively quickly, OR whether you and Harry would be happy to do a review but any of the driving part of the review would be you driving, with the cameras away from you, if you were to be happy to have some sort of review done. I know I would be very grateful of being able to see such a thing, but we would all of course be fully understanding for you not to wish to do so!
Okay, it's worth thinking about. I'll think about it. I am privileged to have the car and am glad to be able to share my enthusiasm with others.
I doff my cap to you sir for considering this. But I do think it would be wonderful for us to see a review by arguably the most genuine car journo out there.Harry comes across as a proper gent, respectful of other peoples property, does his research and respects the machinery. By far the most interesting channel on YT.
I fear in a time not so long from now, when keeping an F1 on the road becomes prohibitively expensive either due to the age of the cars, value or draconian legislation, we will only have grainy videos from the 90s to get our moving fix of such an amazing car.
I think we'd all understand if it didn't happen, but i can't think of a more suitable reviewer were you to allow it.
As I say, I'll think about it. I don't have the time to do it this year, but maybe after we have come out of the other side of the coronavirus - let's hope next year.

In the last decade there have been a number of reviews of the cars. At the time that I got it (nearly 20 years ago), however, there was almost nothing apart from the original road test in Autocar and a piece in Road & Track. Then there were a couple of videos (Brundle and Needell, IIRC). I am probably overlooking something, but I think the next extensive reports were the video of my car at Bedford driven by Richard Meaden and the related article about it for the 100th issue of evo. In those days it seemed that owners were quite reluctant to give even restricted access to the F1s to journalists. As it happened, during the two days of doing the evo piece, Harry was around organising the proceedings the whole time, although he didn't drive the car. I don't think he even rode in it.

Video from the the 2006 Bedford West run is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7cKvZMLQnQ for anyone who wants to see it (quality isn't that high, but it's 14 years ago..)As I say, I'll think about it. I was a little surprised by the number of people standing by the side of the track (presumably taking photos/video) - particularly when Dickie's right foot got ahead of what the rear tyres were able to cope with. It's easy to half-spin cars there in my experience of that bit of the track on Palmersport days.

Yes, Richard was a very skilled driver then, and today is even more so. Also a quality bloke. For anyone who may be interested, the Light Car Company Rocket book that has been mentioned previously will be available in the next month or so. I think it can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
