A bunch of show offs showing off. How unbecoming.
Someone linked a Schmee hypercar vid in here? Ghastly hehe

I have no issues with the owners of said cars. At least they are driving the things. And I couldn't see anything bad driving wise.

It's interesting that NONE of them wanted to talk to the channels owner though laugh No matter how much he tries, by buying multiple cars with matching registrations. He'll NEVER be one of them

yes

2nd year on the bounce Ive completely forgotten about this. And I don't live THAT far away biggrin

It's quite an expensive entry IIRC. But get the impression its a sort of much smaller Goodwood. Probably less than 100 cars on display. (Though always at least 2 F1's)

Worth it?

Flemke, what are your thoughts on the T50s? https://www.topgear.com/car-news/first-look/gma-t5...

Not too sure if it'll be very usable on the road, if that article is a good indication...
On the other hand, given that it's quite customisable (e.g., GM mentioned that downforce could be reduced if the customer desires so)...

I'm not Flemke but considering it's a racing car then I'd say it won't be very useful on the road.

Evo did a few videos on an F1, one vs the P1 and another separate vid on the details. A good review as normal from Henry....

Just listening to the Gordon Murray podcast with Chris Harris - and Murray talks about the car project after F1!

He had 2 concepts, one with a I6, the other with a V8(both BMW engines) - small, about the size of a F1 - V8 was 2 seater, I6 2+2. BMW board approved it. Classic metal/alu construction, to be much cheaper than a F1, up to 1000 units a year produced.
Ron messed it up signing Mercedes engines, BMW got out when Ron told them in a meeting for the new sports car.
Gordon then designed a car for Mercedes with their V8, a small sports car, which Mercedes rejected for the Vision SLR concept.

I'm guessing this isn't the 'chasing an enzo through london, acceleration and revving'!

It's worth watching for 2 reasons

1) It's Flemkes F1 after he had it repaired following the minor bump on an Autobahn. And it looks stunning. I assume it's Mr F driving, but the windows are carefully blurred to preserve his anonymity.
2) The heir to the biscuit company thankfully doesn't feature at all! laugh

No. I normally do not put PPF on my cars, as it distorts the paint colour. In my opinion, stone chips are a part of the reality of driving, and PPF is sort-of the equivalent to never starting the engine because you want the exhaust tips to stay as-new, or putting plastic covers on the seats and steering wheel.
Hi Flemke, would you mind possibly sending me an email when you have a moment - tomw@salonpriveconcours.com

There's a new 2-volume book out on the Mclaren F1 GTR with write ups that include some guys from the teams at the time of them being built and raced, which is fantastic, but also some 'chinese whispers' and sounds bites that sound good and make the storyteller look good but aren't 100% right in there.

As is becoming the norm, there are only 1,000 of these, at £450 plus postage a go

https://porterpress.co.uk/products/mclaren-f1-gtr-...

and only 50 of the more 'collectable' [their words, not mine] limited edition, price TBA

https://porterpress.co.uk/products/mclaren-f1-gtr-...

I've got one of the 1,000 on the way

I've also bought one of these, as they have a 1996 GULF short tail and a 1997 Gulf long tail in the collection

I was tempted by Murrays book "One Formula" a while back. Saw it at £225 and was trying to justify it. (Never spent more than £160 on a book) But as it sold more copies the price rose rolleyes IIRC it was £500 when it sold out.

£450 for this new book is horrendous imo. Especially as you say when it's not 100% factual. And I daresay as it's the same publishing company it will go UP as it sells too.

Rofgo book looks decent though

I was driving, Flemke was busy selling an Island, or something like that.
It was a fun day - I was only told afterwards that the value of the car had increased 2 or 3 fold since the last time I'd driven it.
I still cringe thinking about THAT corner (at 34s) - what was I thinking! I was distracted by something and just fked it it up totally - no idea why Tim included it in the footage!
I wonder whether I'll ever drive an F1 again - totally intoxicating sound.

fairly certain drawing attention to the fact lowers your chances!

McLaren Senna GTR Le Mans Tributes Get Special Liverys.

Well worth a flick through the gallery, I personally think they look brilliant.

To me, Senna is a horrible looking car and no amount of livery is going to change that.

That spot is a favourite of mine... It's an awkward corner with its raised kerb on the inside which you can't afford to clip but you're simultaneously mindful of the junction on the outside and an approach which denies you sight of oncoming traffic until you're already into the turn. Lots to think about dynamically, especially if (as happened in your case) an oncoming vehicle appears once you've already chosen your trajectory and have to adjust it taking all those factors into consideration. No biggie, happens every day. smile

Back from NZ yet? Or staying there forever?

Yeah, does not seem anything really wrong with it in my opinion.
