lol, suspect it is 1.3 litre.
still, all alloy engine that pretty much wrapped up the 1.3 class in rallies for yonks.
I had it in my head that these had an alloy block and iron head? (And were the only car that did it that way around?)
100% possible I'm completely wrong and senile though wink

Originally they were iron head, alloy block ....but switched to alloy head as well later and got a 4bhp hike

To those of you who mentioned you were looking at 106 GTi's, this one popped up on facebook and looks to be in good condition. Might be worth a look...

24 hours of lust.
However the burn for this is fading, while the memories of plastic seat thigh burns are coming back clearly.
Lack of hatchback and a 4 speed, allied to dreary engine (and vaguely thristy) is not really going to work long term.

My grandad traded in a nice Dolomite for one and my great uncle traded in a lovely Stag for one. As a result I hate the things. We were left the latter Princess when he died, 6000 miles in 12 years, had to almost give it away.

That GS and Rapide are fabulous.
I assume it was called a rapide due to the depreciation.

We bought a flame red morris marina brand new as a P reg from Wadham Stringer near the Trent in Nottingham so this is a massive nostalgiafest for me.
Came home from the dealers with lots of Morris/BL swirl stickers as an 8 year old.
Still looking for that elusive (enjoying the search) dadwagon classic, fairly broke until Christmas but this is really whetting me whistle smile

Ill be sad when this thread ends cry
This car was on show at the NEC a year ago last March on some stand or another - I spoke to the owner as my mate had a 2200 - YJO 99R - here's a pic taken in 1983 of it in the background with me wondering what a state I've got my MGB into ... and a pic from the show of the red 'un.

I accounted for the average PHer's fantastic negotiation skills - which bring it well within budget smile
