I'm not a porker person, but should that spoiler be up when the car is stationary?
Yep. That part put me well off as well. laugh
Can be raised manually and stays wherever you put it - ignition on or off. Will have been up when the crash happened, but that doesn't mean it was over 50mph (the speed at which they auto-lower) when it crashed as can be set in the up position permanently if you turn the button on.

Keeping the wing up is more a habit of Cayman drivers tho. smile

Bloody awful and slow car to actually drive compared with what you can get today
That's not what it's about. And did someone say how a Merc SL Pagoda was terrible to drive? Has that person driven a modern SL? My SL55 AMG that I bought new in 2004 (sh*t was it that long ago) was a joke - Sport Light, you gotta be kidding, and it's electronically controlled air suspension would throw a fit everytime you tried any type of spirited driving - but it did have over 500hp and would do 200mph - so bleeding what!!. I lost of stack of money on it (an obvious statement) and with that money if only I had bought 4 ot 5 Merc Pagodas - DAMMIT!!!

Buyers of these cars don't give a st how it handles, or how fast it is....it's either a nostalgic thing, or an investment, or both, or having something to tinker with and just the longing to drive something different and a little more interesting than what is available new today. No capital gains tax on classic cars and lack of confidence in stocks and property are pushing prices up quicker than you can save.

Does it matter that your newly purchased classic Ferrari, Porsche or whatever can't get to 60 in under 9 seconds, that it doesn't have 5 billion break horsepower, or won't be breaking any records at the Nurburgring? Of course not.

In fact, ignore this and keep buying the new cars, so that demand drops in classics and I can once again afford to buy an SL Pagoda :-)

bizarre that the seller would highlight "plenty of low down torque" when referring to the engine.
They've either never driven a type-R or its a generic copy and paste advert.

I've seen a few EP3's advertised at dealers as having "excellent fuel economy". I think they maybe copied from a standard Civic advert ...

Probably so people can’t do much research on the car before the get down and have the salesman do his routine?

And, 95k miles, dodgy aftermarket steering wheel and handbrake gaiter and blue brake calipers. Worth about £8k, surely?

Wow, thought it might be very low miles for that price, such as sub 30k. I can only assume the dealer has been huffing some very strong solvents.

Jokes about the outlandish price aside why do people try selling something high spec on Gumtree? If I see anything much beyond shed money, certainly from a garage rather than a private seller, it starts sending red flags up in my mind.

£3,995 Puma that's a "great investment"

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-51-FORD-PUMA-1-7-TH...

Admittedly I'm no financial wizard, but I would consider a "great investment" to be something that will grow in value, not something being sold today for the absolute maximum it will ever be worth, and only then in about 20 years time with a good tail wind, if kept in absolutely pristine condition and never driven.... Today, this is a £750 car, perhaps a gnats more if it really is as nice as it looks. 4 grand is dreaming though.

I'm going to want to take £25k off the price for that awful aftermarket "M-Sport" kidney grille.

Not sure it's a "great investment", but it certainly looks in good nick. That actually could be one of the cars in this thread that does retain it's £4k value.
