eBay has so many of these jokers advertising their cars …

Dubiously part-restored Stag which still needs an engine and transmission overhaul … but he has an agreed value for it so he’s asking a grand more than that figure, what a dreamer. Interior looks badly finished (if at all) and he has some weird exhausts on it …Stags had double pipes on one side (the left) but he seems to have two separate single exhausts with exits either side at the back of the car, which looks awful to me!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284305938924?hash=item4...

Added to which the car seems to have been repainted with the engine in

His best chance of getting anything north of £20k for that is to smash it into a tree and see if Lancaster put their money where their mouth is.

Awful, awful ad as well

That's horrific, lots of torque though:

maximum torque of 800 Nm is available at 3500 rpm

rofl
Saw this in the flesh the other day, thought I was in the presence of greatness but looked pretty shonky from a distance.
If that's really 362bhp I'll eat my shoes.
Bet it's an E32 M112 with all of 214bhp.
The bloke started it up & drove off, did sound alright to be fair. I just wasn’t convinced it was the real thing.
Considering the other cars on this thread, I can't see that being too daft a price...maybe. Although I think they have missed the bit where it's being sold because it's run out of fuel and they can't put any more in...

So from the ad:

"The 3. 2 -l AMG V6 engine draws a maximum output 362 hp at 6100 rpm, and the maximum torque of 800 Nm is available at 3500 rpm"

That doesn't make any sense at all from a mathematical perspective.

If the engine made 362hp at 6100rpm, it would make maximum torque of 312lb ft, which is 423nm.
If the engine made 800nm of torque, then peak power would allegedly be 685bhp.

Absolute fantasist.

I've had a poke around online. Seems the DTM style ones only used a V8. So this guy is either talking absolute crap, or is reading some bullst that came with the car and believing it.

He's mixing and matching the engine specs - power of the V6, torque of the V8 CLK DTM

Is a P reg Escort considered a classic? Is a P reg Escort with fairly low miles but in pretty poor looking condition worth £8,500? I'm not convinced, I think it looks like it's worth something more along the lines of £850.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106073...

It's had a few corrosion advisories on it's MOTs over the years, it also not a fan of getting first time passes on said MOTs, concours prices for a very much non concours car.

Must be a price typo surely? Otherwise that is boldly ambitious nuts

I had a P reg example very similar to that for which I paid £1,200 (at 55k miles and a LOT less rusty), and I struggle to recall a single redeeming feature about it. It was pig ugly, the interior was awful, the bumpers cracked and fell apart, the exhaust fell to bits, the electric windows packed up, the entire indicator stalk unit had to be replaced, the central locking had a mind of its own, and the boot lid leaked. It was my second car and I persevered for nearly a year before ditching it (only figuratively unfortunately) for a 120k mile E30 318i with a knackered camshaft.

The 1989 Mk4 1.3 popular I had prior to the Mk6 was better in just about every way, apart from performance- and even then the Mk4 'felt' quicker.

Even at £850 I struggle to imagine a scenario where a rusty Mk6 Escort would start to make any kind of sense. Madness.

At £85 I'd still be pretty annoyed as I'd be £85 short and I'd own another Mk6 Escort.

What an absolute joker.

Quick scan for others and I found this one - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202105293...

£2k. Probably a fair price actually for what is a usable classic.

To me that looks like a once standard 996.1 with a load of tat all over it priced at around what a good 997.2 goes for?

Genuine question...
