£7k for a '09 swift

I get that it's low mileage, but who on earth would spend nearly £7k on a rather ordinary small hatchback as the swift that is already 14 years old.
There seems to be a handful of these (some as old as 2006) being priced for £5k upwards. I've no idea who would ever want to buy them.

This one, I've posted before, but is back up for sale. I reckon judging by his other listings the seller is just nuts. Look at the rust on the rear wheel arch. My £2k 9-3 doesn't have that.

looking at his other items, that spanner wants £500 BIN for a secondhand jacket that can be found for $20 in the USA, or a similar one for £7 on vinted. What an absolute tool.

As for the car, it's not only £16k overpriced, it is also a total and utter nail. I like how he backs everything up with "not a cheap job"...

It’s like they’ve taken the price they bought the car at, added every repair cost they’ve spent on it, and arrived at a sale price as a total of these

I think it's the low~ish mileage which makes it worth more. But it shouldn't be worth quite that much more.

I does look like a genuinely lovely example. A little sad that they've sunk £30k into it. If genuine and really restored that standard, I don't think £15k is that bad an asking price. The problem is WHY would you?
It's not special enough to stick in a collection and if you use it, it will drop in value like a stone.

Unless you specifically want to daily that sort of car and don't mind paying a premium for such an excellent example, there isn't really a market for it.

Agreed, it's a bit of an oddity in that sense. Surely, if you're not out to make a profit (the numbers don't add up here), you'd just keep it and run it into the ground given that it owes you over £30k.

Well, that's just odd. You spend 30k on a 3k car and expect someone to give you 15k for it. But it's now just a very tidy 3k car. I don't understand why you wouldn't buy a better place to start - you could get a very decent 80k manual for 6k or so, and probably spend less on the resto. Or for 33k you'd be right at the top end of M3 money. I've got two of these, so I'm hardly in a position of being entirely sensible myself, but that seems nuts. Still, I guess I should support anyone trying to drive up the 330Ci market.

Mostly replacing things that didn't need it and would have outlasted the car, and afaict it's still got a 120k engine in it.

It does sound like he enjoys the rebuild process, so fair play, but if you wanted it to be worth M3 money at 120k, you'd surely have been better off rebuilding the engine, addressing the underbody rust and skimping on the boot trim.

Don't disgree... but I can imagine if I was retired and bored this would be the sort of thing I'd waste my time doing! So a result, can't really knock it.
