I was casually perusing the used 4x4 market, idly considering if a V8 Defender might be a fun barouche for a couple of years. Rufty-tufty offroader for my shooting with a burbling V8 sounded like a good compromise.
A 21 plate v8 was c105k.
Feck me, that's a bit trumpy.
For a little comparison, I bumbled over to the Aston website and looked at DBX.
Same year, same mileage?
£115k.
Now, the dog would have more room in the Defender and it isn't going to get stuck in a muddy field - but that's just the wrong price differential (IMHO).

This was mine. I worked hard to sell it for £4800 last September after 3 years of fun. It’s a lovely car- they make epic 1000 miles in a day mile munchers- but it isn’t worth £10,000 imo

I am amazed you only got and struggled to get £4800 for that. Where did you try and sell it?

Assume it's the person who bought it off you that's selling it now.

£5k does sound like all the money, guess they're having a punt for a few weeks hoping for a bite at 7 or 8.

It must work every now and then.

It's less overpriced than the X-reg 535i E39 up at almost the same, and looks pretty tidy- but there are cheaper, lower mileage 550i's up for sale with dealers!

I’d happily give £4800 to waft about in that for a bit. But no 10k, not a chance.

looking at his other items, that spanner wants £500 BIN for a secondhand jacket that can be found for $20 in the USA, or a similar one for £7 on vinted. What an absolute tool.

As for the car, it's not only £16k overpriced, it is also a total and utter nail. I like how he backs everything up with "not a cheap job"...

Someone on the Saab uk forum asked him if it was a mistake in the listing and he said that he had done his maths and had worked out how much it owed him!

For reference I just sold my 2005 aero wagon with the better v6 turbo engine for £1600…

Here it is again to save people having to go back

Someone needs to sit him down and explain that’s not how it works.

Bonkers.

On the face of it it looks like a nice car but the price seems a bit punchy for a car with 251000 miles, even a Volvo.

Remember when James May bought one of those for dirt cheap and took it to Africa?

Cool car, but not at that price! I would have thought £2500 at best, or does that make me out of touch?

They've definitely shot up.

Clean low mileage ones I've seen up for £20k.

I love a high miler but who's going to pay that for one that's on its way back from the moon.

£6,500 for one of the most terrible machines ever produced. Ever

A 19 year old LDV van.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/van-details/202304066...

You could have a newer and lower mileage Ford Transit luton for the same price which is about 5 million times better than this rattly, smelly old steaming pile of troglodytic Leyland horsest. Actually, that is offensive to all members of the Equine mammals.

Another insane price

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202303175...

£70k for an ex-demo with 10,000 miles.

The same model and trim (GTX MAX 77kWh) is as low as £42000 (also an ex demo)

Here:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304096...

That makes the first car £28,000 overpriced !
