Almost 20 years ago I was offered a nice Lotus Carlton as a straight swap for my Fiat Coupe 20VT.

If this is the going rate for one, I feel a bit sick: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-LOTUS-CARLTON-3...

There's a readers ride thread on here for one, the guy is part way through a £100k resto on it. I thought he was mad, but then I thought these were still around the £20-30k mark eek

I've been following Lotus Carltons for years as I've been saving up for one since I was about 7. I reckoned I'd be able to afford one by this year or 2018 at a push.

That plan has been pushed back, if ever laugh

Does the seller's avatar also count as using the Mrs to sell a car?
Something in that story does not quite add up, how does a Cosworth survive that long in Essex ?? smile

Not sure what planet the seller is on, I'd say at the very best it's worth £10k

And it's only 'new' because everything has been replaced ...
With its 'sticky out' carlos fandango wheels plod would pull it or it would fail MOT. Construction and Use fail.

The ruling on wheels is if looking down no tyre tread should be visible outside the arch, in my opinion from that photo the vehicle complies.

i've read these handle like a shopping trolley
I owned one for a while, fine for around town but mine kept boiling itself at slow speeds so I sent it on its way. It was frugal and comfy but the biggest issue is the gearbox which is a 3spd automatic..... it's slow.... like really slow..... like a snail with a limp slow

If hollybrook retailing a figaro isnt a sign of impending doom in the modern classic/classic car market (bubble) i dont know what is!

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel! rolleyes
