It's a car that's so uncool it's gone full circle and become ironically cool. Not for that price mind you.https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11019185

In 1990 people would have said the same about the Sierra RS Cosworth
I still think it's way too much for any Focus RS in 2020 though
Thing with modern cars is they have zero substance.I still think it's way too much for any Focus RS in 2020 though
The cosworth, you pop the bonnet and get actual metal parts! That cosworth can cover, plenum, turbo on display.
Modern ltd editions are nothing more than badges, fake vents and plastic engine covers with badges to tell you what they are. Pull the cover off a new FRS and ask people what it is... open a cosworth bonnet and even my GF knows it’s a cosworth.
Anyone speculating with modern RS fords must be barmy. When people wake up to the fact modern cars have no real substance to back up the badge they’ll be as worthless as the base model they look like when you remove the plastic engine cover.
This is happening everywhere now, same thing with watches IMO too. Brands making things look like the old models and charging crazy amounts yet those of us with the old models just see a cheap, nasty version without the detail that makes them so great. Some just see the badge.
I cant actually come up with anything concrete so use "Substance" as its vague and cant be quantified, but it means you dont like it because its recent and you dont like recent things
A Focus RS is better in every way than a Sierra Cosworth, its called progress, do I want one more ? no, not really.
A Focus is better built than a Sierra, crash one or leave it out for ten winters, then see which one fares better.
A Focus RS has radically different underpinnings to the base model that had a huge amount of development, different engine with 350 bhp, four wheels drive, fancy diff, different suspension etc.
Why do you need to see metal bits in an engine bay, its just a cover over the same stuff that the Sierra had, a four cylinder 16 valve Turbocharged engine.
Every RS car eventually goes up, even ones that werent really that well received at the time, Mk5 Escort RS 2000s and Fiesta RS Turbos etc.

Not as bad a car as some would have us believe but I wouldn't buy it any price from someone who puts out an ad like that.https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11019185

The Vanden Plas version, no less!https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11019185
My mate's Grandfather had one from new (in the same poo brown) that I had a few journeys in back in period. I remember the rear picnic tables. Even as a nipper, I thought it was dreadful.

Think that this is “find another” territory again. Wouldn’t spend £3k of my money on it, but do not think that it is overpriced - must be either unique or very close to unique. With older ordinary cars becoming increasingly chic, if this is kept in this condition, it will be worth more than this in 5 years time & much more in 10 years time.
I don't think any of that applies to a 1999 Renault Megane RXE 5dr.We sold one of these in metallic snot green, 19k miles only last year. Granted it was a cat d (tailgate had been replaced at some point), it sold for £750.

Of course you did. I can’t believe how many examples of cars that come up on this thread you’ve also sold. Usually for next to nothing or scrap. Well done.waynecyclist said:
No service history how can the mileage be genuine, it could have had the speedo replaced before its first mot, they were noted for dash issues.
Interesting mot history, it was mot'd in November 2005 @ 10518 and was not re-mot'd until September 2019 @ 10609, somehow doubt the mileage
Probably laid up, which accounts for its condition. Look at the condition of the seats - that material shows wear and crushes relatively soon - if it had done say 40k miles it would not look like that. The condition of the engine bay also shows a cosseted life, and low mileage. I am glad that cars like this and the Renault are cherished by someone and are preserved for posterity. It is important that everyday cars from each era can be seen by future generations. Cannot understand the narrow-minded sneering on this thread.

Well done.We sell all makes models of cars from all eras. Around two years ago we had a Rover 216, unused for 22 years with 16k on it. It still had a box full of Unipart filters and oil in the boot. We sold that for £995.

An SD3? I vaguely remember reading about a 'barn find' 216 with a similar story on AROnline. We sell all makes models of cars from all eras. And yet when you are asked a hundred times to provide links to these bargains you have so we can all buy something from you, you fail to follow up on any of those claims. Funny, isn't it?
