Absolutely zero information on the advert but someone's trying to shift a delivery mileage Rover 75 V8 (4.6, teens MPG, 319 g/km) for nearly new 5 series money

That was £29k at one point, and clearly didn’t sell then...

hard price to judge, it is a musuem piece, but surely 40k isn't massively overpriced to a collector.

Those wheels are actually pretty nice, but dear god what happened to the front of it? They forgot it was supposed to be a Jag pastiche and decided it needed to look like *that*

That is, I think, a very lazy V8. There are so many livelier options out there - a lazy V8 is relaxing but it’s rarely fun.

It's the Ford Modular 3-valve V8 as fitted to the S197 Mustang.

Maybe not for a collectable car. Which this isn't.

Exactly. If you are collecting £40k st Rovers, you should probably have someone step in and "Britney Spears' Dad" your ass.

Oh no, nothing so exciting as THREE whole valves per cylinder, Rover used the two valve version as featured in the Town Car and Crown Victoria, cars so hilariously awful I'd often pay extra to hire one for short trips.

I assume Rover used that donkey because it was very cheap and/or because a proper engine wouldn't fit; it certainly wasn't for it's performance credentials.

There were 4V versions available with 300bhp+, which would have been a bit more creditable.

It's a great looking thing, but It looks like an 8v with all of 95bhp and a tow bar.
I picked up a 1 owner Laguna that shape a few weeks ago and took it to auction, the dealer had paid 240 quid for it. Higher miles but was minty clean and drove lovely.

I walk past this locally,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154438336034?hash=item2...

Noticed it on AT some time back, maybe March, it disappeared from sale and has re-appeared seemingly having had loads of work.

Would be an ideal car for my youngest who is learning in an auto, but its a grand or so overpriced and the vendor is having a mild rant at why its worth more him having spent a load of cash on it. It looks ok, its round the corner saving much driving about but its way overpriced.

Isnt that just the luck of the draw ? I put two new PS4s on my car a month and about 100 miles before selling it to WBAC.

WBAC says £3310 for this car, just cant get anywhere near 5 grand for it.

Well, it'll attract a premium as it's got clean fuel lines.

I've seen less concise adverts on £120k cars.

That being said, it's £1000-£1200 over where it should be, for a private sale. At that money, I'm going to a dealer.

Sadly, money spent + upkeep ≠ retail value. A lesson I had to teach many punters over 7 years of selling cars.

Yeah, that's the way it goes.

If you want to flog a car, especially privately it has to be in the ball park of others, forecourt prices are a bit higher.

I put my M135i for £17,500, got daft offers of 14k (For cash, today ! I actually said payment by bank transfer only....) and 15k, so it went to WBAC for 16.

I didnt write and add justifying its price, thats up to those spending money and it annoys me when you get chancers offering way below its market value, equally like this chap, he really is deluded in the other direction thinking a ten year old Ibiza is worth five grand, well he can think that but it isnt going to sell.

That end of the market is very competitive and buyers are pretty shrewd as its usually actual cash thats paying for it and not a monthly affordable figure and loads of finance stuff, black and white, this many pounds.

I wonder how many cars are just sat there month after month because the price is so far away from the actual value, which is cock all to do with what you have spent on it.

The ad is pretty good but is a long winded diatribe about why it is such a valuable example of an entirely ordinary ten year old, unremarkable hatchback, the replaced parts are a bonus, but dont add to its value massively.

Wilmslow, innit. Financial micro-climate.

He's been stung and had to pay out over £2K in repairs in the last year and he's trying to recoup that with his long winded advert.

He can see into the past and guarantee none of the previous owners smoked in it, whilst also seeing into the future that every other Ibiza's turbo and power steering will fail. It must be Dr who selling it.

Have a gander at some of the other ste he's selling and it'll shed some light on why he isn't scared of chancing.

Want to buy "TA11 LES" for £5,000? How about "M155 WTF" for £10,000?

"RS06 MMM" is also yours for the low price of £5,000. I mean, you could buy any of the other 174 "RS06" plates from the DVLA for £250, but surely they are not as attractive as MMM.

How about a sculpture of a plastic rabbit that looks like it's been scraped off the side of the A1M? Only £600.

Good God. Get a grip Les.

Nearly £4k for that Civic?

His grandad clearly wasn't that careful with the amount of paint repairs that car has had.
