Nice car. Do the front disks look badly scored / lipped?

Low miles I know, but cannot see it fetching anywhere near that price:

Yeah; fronts could do with replacing. Discs & pads for these aren't expensive at all

Erh, what? I'm really trying my best to comprehend what makes this in any way, shape or form, a project car.

Oh. It's had a wrap, righto. And some of the interior trim has had a carbon wrap applied. And it's been dechromed. That's supposedly £3,500 worth of work.

Bless them. You can almost picture the seller. Definitely vapes.

I don't think they'll struggle to sell it at all. Top condition LCI E61's are still bringing strong money, I've seen a few 530/535d's making around £10k

Inspired by Harry's Garage latest video, I went window shopping for an E46 M3... They've definitely gone very high in price now, £12k usually getting a reasonable one from a private seller, but this one stood out as being spectacularly overpriced.

  • Grey on grey, so not a brilliant colour combo
  • 110k miles
  • Usual wear and tear on the pleather inside
  • Parking sensors don't work
  • EVERY SINGLE panel is either rusty, or scratched, or both
  • Alloys need a refurb
  • In Edinburgh
  • No mention of last time it had Inspection 2 service, just a shot of some invoices and that's about it
£13500.

This 151,000 mile Alfa 156 GTA, is up for £14,995.

One lady owner, too. Naturally.

Admittedly, I don't truly know enough about the value of these to really make a meaningful comment - but I'm going to anyway....

I'd probably argue that this isn't seriously overpriced.

Despite the mileage, this does look remarkably clean and well looked after - though the consistent MOT failures might say otherwise.

Given the rarity, I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for around that price.

I don't think it's worth the money, personally, but I think it's priced just about well enough that someone who really wants it would pay it...

Awaiting some Alfa gurus to prove me wrong now (which I am definitely expecting)...

That MOT list is extensive.

How many years has the car turned up for an MOT with an EML and the oil level low?

Corrosion and repairs underside of the vehicle highlighted. The front wings were a fail due to corrosion.

The regular advisory of outer sills not checked due to being covered. I fear what's below them.

That car must have required extensive refurbishment if it's now genuinely in exceptional condition.

Who presents a car for an MOT with no front number plate or wipers?!
Not someone that owns a "perfect" car, shirley.

"wrapped in stunning Gold Dust Satin Black from 3M 2080 series, spotless full beige Dakota leather with carbon fibre upgrade interior, side mirrors and diffuser carbon upgrade, SunTekcarbon tinted windows, ceramic coating protection from Gtechniq, full dechroming, (all worth £ 3500) "

Take them all off and sell them separately then, if they're worth that much?
Oh, wait...

Value is subjective though, so it can only ever be an opinion on any of our part. The "priced well enough that someone who really wants it would pay it" could apply to pretty much any of the cars posted in the thread, and indeed any car on the market - someone who wants a super clean Volvo estate from the 90's doesn't have 'that' many options. They're not making any more of them, and most out there are shagged out. So if they really want a good one they might pay £10k for it while the rest of us think "well I'd never have paid that!"

I think a 156 GTA is great. They're gorgeous cars. They are rare. They're very good. And if it's true that one lady owner has indeed put 151k on it then bloodywell good on her.

At 51,000 miles I would say the pricing was keen. At 151,000 I won't. Like you say though, someone who really wants it might buy it and enjoy it and think they had a good deal...and that's great, but that wouldn't stop ME thinking it was overpriced.

There's no right or wrong, just opinion. smile

It's been up for a good while now pal

The dervs are still fairly sought after; the V8s less so...

It's not a £13k car; high single digits maybe, bot not more than £10k unless someone REALLY wants it IMO

Perfect example of someone confusing 'cost' with 'worth', isn't it?

I could spend £500 on horse st and smear it on the car - doesn't make the car worth £500 more. biggrin

That price is well above a dealer price with warranty. I'd expect to see that on a decent forecourt at about £14k tops with everything sorted, warranty, etc

And for £13k, I wouldn’t want a 3 year gap in the service history. I’d also want a UK car, not an import.

A UK car will be much worse off corrosion wise than an import; but the import does need to come with decent paperwork to back it up etc

Either way; UK or import; it's still never a upwards £10k car

Doesn't say where it was actually imported from, tho.

"Gap between 2012-2016 in a genuine mistake and missing in the book as all service before and after carried out at same dealership."

No idea what that explanation means. Its a mistake that it wasn't serviced? It's a mistake that the services were not recorded in the book? It's a mistake that it wasn't taken to the same dealer for servicing during that time and instead done by their mate with his hammer?

My guess is Japan; mileage in KMs etc and what looks to be overall very good/clean condition...

Still; lots of questions, starting with what's the real price biggrin
