It seems to me this car has managed to create an extra 200kg of downforce over the S1 even when stationary.

Where does the 200kg come from?

I wondered the same, but after a bit of reading it appears that the crash regs put paid to the lightweight nature of the S1. It is still lightweight though, just not as it was.

I'm confused now. Is there in fact ANY car that can take on those "UK roads" of legend?
Haha, you are making reference to the 4C thread. I had this in mind too.
Since this review is a review of a track oriented road legal car only tested on a track I'm now feeling a bit suspicious of the final verdict.

I tried the Elise S CR on my local roads, and it was rather good. If this car has the same setup, it should work great. But it would be nice to get confirmation of this.

Think I'd rather buy a sport 190.

Can we have some new cars please Lotus, not just new versions of the same old car
Works well for Caterham. What competitors does this car have again? Sure it looks expensive but what compares from a driving experience?

Never understood why this isn't called an exige and the current exige called something else creating a four model line up.

I'm sure there is a reason if I looked for it as the gap in cost between old and new exige allows for the seperate models.

How many cars are there with similar performance for significantly less?

Then take the glacial Lotus depreciation into account, this will be a far more cost effective option than most performance cars.

Exactly. Can't understand the "too much" comments which seem to always come up on a Lotus thread. The Elise is not a £20k car and nor should it be, particularly a focused version like this.

Very difficult to identify anything comparable to the Lotus.

- Aluminium tub/lightweight construction (within laws/regulations)
- Mid-engine
- Rear-wheel drive
- Manual transmission
- Double-wishbone suspension front and rear

Whilst it does seem plenty of money there really is no comparison to be made against earlier S1 and S2 Elise's.I drove a new Elise S recently and they have moved the game on massively from my S2 k series in every area.Familiar shape, but hugely quicker and capable than previous cars.
