Just tried to buy gap insurance and when I enter code Piston 12 it says "promotional code not available"

Can you help please.
Is it possible that you typed "PISTON[space]12"? It should be "PISTON12" (all one word), just tested this and its working my side, let me know if not! Cheers, S

Just placed order for Vehicle Replacement Plus and Excess Cover. Thanks for the discount code ALA Much appreciated smile

Also as a bit of a heads up, I find with certain policy the (recommended) amount of cover can sometimes be increase without increasing the premium

Hi Whytey88

Thanks for your message and buying a policy - that code definitely comes in handy party

There are a couple of premiums which can work like that - although you probably won't need the higher claim limits its hard to resist more cover for the same money!

Thanks again and if you need anything else please get in touch smile

Hello to all the lovely PH folk!

I'm happily back from my holidays clap Hope those lucky people getting a new 67 plate this month have got their GAP insurance sorted wink

If anyone has any queries at all please get in touch - on the forum, by email (katie@ala.co.uk) or by calling the office (01653 916280) - and don't forget about the PH discount, PISTON12, which can be used online or over the phone.

Drop me a line if I can help with anything (probably just GAP insurance, I'm no good with general knowledge biggrin)

Thanks,
Katie

Hello all

Just a note to keep an eye on your ALA excess cover renewals, on the face of it it would appear that your premiums have stayed the same - about £44 for £750 worth of cover with PH discount last year. However the amount of cover has drastically dropped to £250 so sadly I won't be renewing with ALA; for the same cover as before it's £99 (or £110 without PH) that's a truly whopping increase.

Other places worth considering are
£41.50 for £750 with Bettersafe.com
or
£45.21 from Questor Insurance – they seem to be well reviewed and I’ve checked them out on the FCA website.

You pays your money.....

Thanks to the claims handler Paul Scott at MBG insurance.
I dealt with him when I had a crash last year - very nice and helpful chap.

(As it turned out I didn't need the cover as my insco paid out all my finance anyway)

Hi Dogstar

Thanks for passing on this feedback.

I know we discussed this over the phone but just to address this to other PHers, we have unfortunately seen a price increase for Excess cover from our underwriters. We are hopeful that this is just a temporary situation; our Excess policy prices have remained very low for a number of years and we're aiming to get these back to being competitively priced very soon so please bear with us smile

On the other note we're pleased to hear about your positive experience with the (almost) claim last year thumbup

If anyone has any questions or concerns at all please get in touch with me on katie@ala.co.uk or 01653 916301.

Thanks again,

Katie

Hi, I'd like GAP insurance for my car but its 6 years old - is it possible you can cover me up to the price I purchased it for 18 months ago? If not any suggestions? Thanks, Mark.

Hi Mark

Thank you for getting in touch and I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

Unfortunately we can't offer any cover for cars which have been owned for more than 6 months (or 12 months for brand new cars with new-for-old cover from the motor insurer for the first 12 months)

I'm not sure, as I think other providers online have similar cut-off points to ours, but it may worth a quick Google to see if anyone else can help.

I'm sorry we can't help but if you do have any other questions at all please let me know.

Thanks, Katie
