Ford Escort Mexico with TVR V8 - stolen 3/3/15 9.20pm
Discussion
Hope you get it back. Some people just need shooting. What gives anyone the right to take something belonging to another, let alone something like this that is obviously something special and not just a replaceable, anonymous, box on wheels?
Many years ago I went with a friend to pick up a Zakspeed Capri. The seller had put his prized Swaymar Capri in the workshop for the night, just so that we could see it. Some little st stole it and left it burning in a field 3 miles away! Unbelievable.
Fortunately OP's pride and joy is worth a lot more than that and hopefully is recoverable. Fingers crossed.

Stripped PDQ and shell sold for a big bundle of notes for use in historic rallying most likely.
That's what I was suggesting Obviously I don't want anyone to go into details here but presumably you'd still need a VIN, mind you some devious robbing st has probably got a basket case that's going to rise phoenix like from the ashes.Motorrad said:

Or a car that's just been recently wrecked in an event and someone needs a replacement shell.Unsuspecting prospective owner views recently restored/unfinished bare shell etc., (thieving scrotes having passed stripped car onto others for blasting respraying in primmer or plain white) and buys it to re-shell bent rallycar.
All too common with Mk1/2 shell values being what they are.
Official Ford Heritage replacement new shell production (as in the USA with Mustangs etc) would solve this - if only Ford could see the business potential in such a venture (as they do in the USA)
I know this doesnt help much at this point but an idea I had, for cars like this, when the fabrication is being done might be to make some very unique alterations in hard to spot places, then take photos, I know they are all pretty much unique anyway when they have this much work but was thinking if they could be "signed", in weld or something liek that as these kinds of stories are getting all too common.
I know it wouldnt be foolproof but it could make a difference at some point.

I am aware of a couple of Mk1 restorations that have been 'tagged' in such a way during restoration.I know it wouldnt be foolproof but it could make a difference at some point.

Someone above mentioned Ford doing a re-run of the old Mk1/2 shells.
Ford would make an absolute killing! Surely it wouldn't be too much work for them to do?
They wouldn't actually have to do anything other than officially sanction it - as they do in the USA with 'classic' Mustang shells.Ford would make an absolute killing! Surely it wouldn't be too much work for them to do?
There was a rumour a few years ago of this actually being close to happening with shells being made 'under licence' by the same firm in the USA that do the Mustang stuff for Ford, but, it seems nothing further has come of it.
