Great thread Dicky, I've seen the Llysworney one, characterful old place. I also pass the Llandod one every time I go to see the folks.

Here's Humphrey's in Newtown.

You've either got to take a screen shot and post it as a normal image, or just post a link to the google page

Just remembered this one in High Ferrers. Now a 2nd hand car sales, but still has a pump and the kit that swung out to take the hose over the path

Sounds like the Highlands. I stopped in one like that next to a Loch & had to wait for the barmaid in the hotel to get a quiet moment to come over & sell petrol.
I did a wee road trip around the north edge of Scotland in the mid-90s, and had to stop for fuel in Durness. The sign said it was open but there were locks on all the old pumps. There was also a handwritten sign on the door saying 'If you want to buy petrol, ring this number.'

I went to a nearby payphone (this was before mobiles were commonplace), and explained to the guy who answered why I was calling. He said in a very broad accent, "Ok, ah'll be doon in a wee minute", and hung up.

About half a mile away, I saw an old man come out of a cottage, put his dog in the back of his old pickup truck, and drive down to meet us. I had to pay about 10p/litre more than I was used to in Glasgow, but it seemed kinda worth it for such personal service.

Great thread, Dicky.

This is in Norway, it's owned by a chap I know, and there's lots more than meets the eye:

The shop is fully stocked with vintage stuff, chocolate, car bits, papers, the lot, all from the 50-60s. The pumps work but are chained and he doesn't sell petrol. He also owns the concrete building behind it which is an enormous man-cave with cars, pinball machines and odd retro stuff crammed in, it's the strangest house you'll ever see. It's not open to the public but I took some pics here if anyone is interested.
Love that, thanks for sharing. thumbup

Came across these 3 pumps in Bala, on a recent journey from Chester to Portmeirion.
Still functioning ? - I suspect not.

Great thread!

This one is in Alford, not far from Aberdeen. Not as cool/retro as some on here but it makes me smile when I see it: https://goo.gl/maps/kMzQB

There's a traditional garage/filling station fit for this thread in Aldeburgh and there was one in Abersoch, although I've not visited either for a long time and they may have gone since.
Aldeburgh long gone, sorry

The Highlands are great aren't they? that'd never work anywhere else.

There is an unmanned 'community' petrol station at Kielder.

Coincidentally I got my card scammed just after using it. Now that was the first time I'd used that card in years. But like I said, might have been a coincidence.

It was still working when I was a small lad, so that must be 40 years ago.

I was about to post that one. I love the hand painted Repsol sign...

Looking at streetview it looks like the shop that sold nothing but pyjama tops in Bala has closed down. frown

I can't believe this one is Grassington has closed down (and the pump removed). I'm sure it was open last time I went (but thinking about it that was probably ten years ago)

Hate to break it to you, but that's quite a while.

As I'd already screenshotted it before I saw gazchap's post
