Cycling home from work this morning I was hit again. Orange and reflective back pack, orange shoes, hi-viz yellow shorts, hi-viz yellow t'shirt, hi-viz yellow helmet with rear light on, hi-viz orange and white gloves and a 200 lumen rear light flashing.

So what possible reason was could there be for the vehicle operator not being able to see me?

Her VW Golf was full of Vape smoke/steam and she failed to see me stopped at a junction waiting for a gap.

Minor bumper and mirror scuff, no harm or damage to me or my bike but as she got out to apologise it was like King Willy's limousine from Predator 2 but stank of burned popcorn and magic tree.

If I had thought about it at the time I would have told her that ALL hand held electronic devices are illegal whilst driving and she could have been looking at three points for that and another six to nine for Careless Driving. Plus fines, costs and the subsequent added cost to her car insurance for the next five years until the points are off thousands of Pounds.

But I was annoyed and just managed...

"I'm okay. Thanks for asking. The next person you crash into might not be so lucky".

Yesterday. A303 Eastbound, Sparkford Roundabout.
Setting the scene, this roundabout is a place where the A303 goes from dual carriageway to single carriageway. I'm not passing anything, so I'm in the left lane of the DC. This is what the road becomes (I'm local enough to know this). It is definitely wide enough for two cars.

So, as I'm on the roundabout, Exhibit A pulls off the A359 to go onto the A303 (he's positioned correctly and everything). Right out infront of me. Instead of braking, my right side was clear, so I just pulled across and went into the outside lane. Now, I wouldn't have need to slam on the brakes, I had time to do a good check. But I would have needed to brake.

OK, so he's made a mistake. I'm not going to be aggressive or anything. Passing him is going to be easy enough (he's in an old Volvo).
Passing him was no hastle, but he had the sheer audacity to blast his horn at me when I went past!
NA07 FGM.
I observed the speed limit ala speedometer for the rest of the single carriageway stretch (about 2 miles). laugh

He's also a tailgater when you're behind a lorry that's overtaking another lorry...
What an acensoredole

The numpty in the Audi Q3

Outside lane. Dry, Sunny. Speeding. Nothing too stupid Him in front. Me a sensible distance behind.

This road has over the last month or so intermittently had a camera van on the hardshoulder/layby. So most people are aware to at least look for it.

Well Mr Q3 didn't until he was pretty close to it. So decided the best thing to do would be slow from 85ish to 50 by standing on the brakes! I didn't run into the back of him (cause I wasn't that close) but I did have to heavily brake as well below the speed I was going at, I flashed him, (more out of habit) he got arsey and pulled to L2 and was wildly gesticulating at the hard shoulder.

I just waved back and mouthed "I know! But WTF!

I daresay it was a bit too much for him as both him and his ugly, ugly wife pouted laugh

if he was doing 85mph in a 50mph zone, how come poster was anywhere even remotely close behind?

Exactly that, and not only did he get caught out as well as the other driver, he then flashed him as if to say it's your fault, and then finishes off by calling his wife ugly. All that seems a bit rich coming from er......... Rich

Hate to spoil the fun boys, but where does it say it was a 50mph limit?

I read it as the Audi braked from 85 in a 70 to 20mph below the limit which was the "knobish" behaviour. i.e. not only was he inattentive enough to miss the speed camera until the last moment but when he did he was unaware of his speed and how hard he (over) braked down to a speed much slower the traffic would expect.

But it might just be me being generous of spirit biggrin

Knobbish on Rich's behalf because he knew that was a likely spot for a speed camera and was still doing 85 by the sound of it and travelling too close for a comfortable stop in an emergency. He then tries to make himself feel better by calling the other guys wife double ugly after he had flashed the guy.

Two knobs in the same place at the same time by the sounds of it, plus an ugly bird hehe

where does it say he braked to 20mph under the limit? Unless you are assuming it was a 70mph dual carriageway? Doesn't have to be?

I saw the van. I saw it from about 300metres away! So eased off. Hence why I wasn't about to run into the back of him.

Wasn't expecting fk face to stand on the brakes to slow to 50 though! laugh

That guy raised over £100K for a childrens hospital by riding his bike.

What have you done recently for charity?

(He didn't but all you ever fking do is batter on about people on bikes Look we get it, you're fat and no amount of miles on a bike will lose the weight or make you any less ugly.

If you could just stop posting your anti-bike ste everywhere on PH hoping that some other equally retarded people will agree with you that would be swell laugh )

The fat persons society of Great Britain said to thank you personally for the free upper body and neck workout they get whilst pointing and laughing at you all when crossing the road slowly at traffic lights.

YOU are doing your country a great service, but we salute THEM.

I had a similar scenario, except I wasn't going to run into anybody. I was on a 50 mph DC in an urban area. White van overtaking me. There's a fixed speed camera ahead (I think he knew it too). So, while I ease off from 50 Real Speed to 50 indicated, he hammers on his brakes and makes me undertake him (I think he was now at 40)! Of course, once the camera was past, he sped up again... until the next camera. Sure way to increase the risk of an accident, hammering the brakes in L2 to a significant degree under the limit.

It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and cloudless, the roads were quiet, and I was in an excellent mood on my morning commute.
Then the two knuckle-dragging, fk-witted occupants of the white Peugeot van in front of me decided to throw all their rubbish out of their windows, and now I feel the urge to kill. Again.
