you lost 3k on one bet? you spend 1.5k a year on lottery tickets?

well done on win, but watching my gambling dad go to prison for thief, i would quit whilst you are ahead.
Honest words OP maybe whilst your head sit down and look at what your paying out. Plus if and when you decide to buy a house this will impact it all too

Chance to own one of the rarest V8 cars in the UK, takes the cash and buys a hot hatch. How boring.

Congrats on the win but damn. When I saw the winner chose a VXR8 it raised a smile only to read this.

Yes, Chiddos opening post does read like an advert!

I'm guessing Chiddo (OP) really is the winner and Best of the Best asked him if he'd write a post on Pistonheads about it given that he's a member here.

Seems fair enough.

OP, the chance of winning the Euromillions jackpot is 116,531,800 to one. In other words it's twice as unlikely as calling a random uk phone number once and getting the person you wanted!

Here's a lottery simulator for you to play with that shows you just how unlikely a win is: http://uklottosim.appspot.com/

Well done with the car OP, but £3000 bet on mean income is 'problem gambling'. It's worth seriously considering getting some help before you lose it all.

Good luck smile.

Well done on the win.

A good mate of mine started doing excessive on-line gambling - lottery, Irish lottery, etc.
Then on line poker.... ended up bankrupt, owed Lloyds bank £45k, lost his house, his wife and kids, ends up living in a bedsit at age 45, then gets done for drink driving twice....

It's a bad place to be.

This £47k OP - bet you can buy loads of tickets with it! hehe
Bejesus. Puts things in perspective when you think your having a bad day.

Well done on the win OP.

Two BOB winner's posts in one morning? The chances of that are less than winning the actual BOB competition.

OP congratulations firstly and the next bit will make me sound like an old fart but....

If you are set on buying a house why splash over half your winnings on a new car?
Whats to say you won't fritter the remaing away over the next few years?

IMO you should spend £5k on a car and buy that house now but thats just me at 50.
Me at your age would have just blown it :-)

OP isn't the first to post on here about winning a car on BOTB though, I seem to recall the previous thread went quite a different way.

I used to do this every month, but I scaled back when it went to two-weekly and dropped it altogether recently. I always thought that if I was lucky enough to win I'd probably take the car, on the basis that if I had the money to buy the car, I probably wouldn't do, so it was the only chance I'd have to run something like that without having to do that mental comparison between what I'd paid for it and what I'd sold it for.

Nice to see they still give game credits as well, for some of the other close entries.

I usually just buy tickets for whatever car is on special offer.

That way I maximise the potential value of the prize whilst keeping the cost low.

They often offer certain cars at half the usual ticket price.

If i don't like the car I win then I'd take the cash!

I just enjoy playing and keep my weekly cost of 10 goes as low as possible.

The OP certainly seems to have spent a crazy amount in my eyes but it worked! Lucky chap :-)

Congratulations OP. Now you are going for the RS3 and banking the rest to get on the property ladder, I'd seriously think about seeing someone to discuss your gambling habits. It won't take long for you to convince yourself that you can gamble the cash you have left over to win the equivalent of five cars and buy a palace, and end up chasing lost money.

That advice is offered sincerely, please consider it.
