RE: Audi RS3: Review
Discussion

Be that as it may, I still expect manufacturers to put some effort in. - The last couple of Audis I drove didn't feel great at normal speeds, never mind when pushed further. Having said that, the Evo review of this new RS3 does seem more positive.
Audi admit they make their cars for customers who use them daily and not for jurnos to waz around a track for 20 minutes, look at Harris his RS6 review was basically MEH! After having one for some time he claimed it to be the best car ever made in his swiss motor show vid.The other problem is if you stick 10 jurno's on a track with 10 different cars you will get 10 different winners lol
The EVO review was interesting, especially the start where they slated the MK1 RS3, a car they gave 4.5/5 stars in its review
Jurno's
I certainly agree about Audi's bread and butter cars, as interesting to drive as wallpaper paste
Where Audi PR appears to have cocked up is in claiming they have removed the slight front bias of the car and introduced a drift mode. From the reviews so far that does indeed appear to be bks.
One thing I would like to know is if this car has the same utterly dire conti tyres they put on the MK1, a tyre so bad you could waggle the steering wheel a couple of inches side to side and the car would stay in a straight line as the tyre wall had so much play in it. MPSS's are a huge improvement.

There's nothing prestigious about Audi, not any more anyway. Prestigious car makers are companies like Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Jaguar and Bugatti. Audi have as much prestige these days as Morphy Richards or Hotpoint. Even the "high end" models (with the possible exception of the R8) are effectively white goods, designed and built to last as long as the first lease term and generate extra revenue in parts thereafter.Back in the days of the original Quattro and the S2 etc., those were Audi's prestigious days but they're gone now, it's all just over-priced status symbols now.

You've placed Jaguar in with the likes of Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari and Lamborghini and slated Audi?Back in the days of the original Quattro and the S2 etc., those were Audi's prestigious days but they're gone now, it's all just over-priced status symbols now.
I see you own a Jaguar.
Explains.

You'll no doubt have noticed that when a car is brand spanking new, it usually gets hyped-up and given a high rating...then as time goes on and the shine wears off, the characteristics, flaws etc. come to the surface. As soon as a new model's announced, it becomes open season on discussing the negatives of the "old" car.The other problem is if you stick 10 jurno's on a track with 10 different cars you will get 10 different winners lol

Yes I own a Jaguar, but that's not the point. I used to own a SEAT but wouldn't have said they had prestige and neither would I say Audi did even if I owned an Audi.I see you own a Jaguar.

Jaguar are a prestigious brand who make luxury cars built to a good standard, as do the other names I listed (and some more besides). Audi make white goods to a budget. If they spent what they must do on PR every year on R&D instead then it would be a different story.
Popularity is not the same as prestige.

Maybe not. But Jaguar is not in the same category as the likes of Ferrari and Bugatti. It just isn't.Jaguar are a prestigious brand who make luxury cars built to a good standard, as do the other names I listed (and some more besides). Audi make white goods to a budget. There was no order, or hierarchy in that post, and none was implied. I agree, Ferrari and Bugatti have more prestige than Jaguar but I defy anyone to argue that Jaguar have none, and particularly not to also argue that Audi do.8bit said:

in your opinion most people would rate jaguar as a division 2 quality car along with lexus, certainly under BMW/Mercedes/Audi
I certainly do, as do most others which the sales figures support

there is no arguing with troll fanbois
Golf R and a £399 remap please.
With the Audi; love the noise, love the stealth look, love the figures - just not liking what I'm hearing about ride comfort on day to day usage.
test drive will be needed for sure before deciding if one of these should be on the radar to replace the Golf R in 18months.

If each item is studied, then Jaguar seem to be way down the list for eg:
Engine and transmission reliability.
Out of 100 cars sold, approximately 50 have had issues, placing them 96th below many other makes/models.
Or am i not reading it correctly?

Andrew Frankel even advised Jag sales staff not to use the screen on test drives in case it puts off prospective buyers. Ouch.
Jag's 60's zenith is a long time ago and most buyers weren't even born then. To suggest in perception terms they are now above the German brands is just plain wrong.
All manufactures employ marketing hype - lord knows we've seen enough of it from Jag recently, be it z list celeb endorsements or pointless and anti-climatic 'stunts' like driving a car over the Thames on wires????
By the sound of your posts it seems like you are believing all this Jag hype nonsense.
