Looking forward to the JDM version - wonder if they'll do another saloon?

My trusty old FN2 will soon be replaced!

As soon as I get a huge pay rise that is.

I think it looks good, not too fond of the rear arches though. i must be immature, 50 this year; (using a Peugeot 208 gti 30th as a daily) booked a drive when it comes into the showroom, if good i will then try to persuade the other half that she needs one. Not getting rid of the 30th....its great.

The MK2 focus was abit lairy styling wise when it came out but still sold well. Its aged well and looks less lairy as time has gone on.

I will be in the market for a 30k hatch in about a year and this and the Mk3 focus RS are the two id be choosing from (Assuming nothing else similar comes out before then). I like the Golf R for what it does but its just too mundane and you see far too many of them for my liking. I find it easy to mistake them for the Golf GTi too.

Styling wont suit everyone but id prefer a Honda over a VAG anyday and think its performance both chassis and engine make it very appealing, a proper Manual gear change too. I think its priced fairly but would want to see some better PCP deals tbh.

I look forward to what the Focus does next, the prospect of 4wd and slightly milder looks may sway it for me being a family man.

These pcp deals don't seem as good value as they used to be??
I don't think residuals will be particularly good, given what the cars will be used for - and the look will date, I think.

I do quite like it, and the £299 is eye catching. But £8700 down and £13000 to pay off at the end; assuming you wouldn't buy it at the end cost of ownership over the term has to be near par with something like a 235i given the better residuals?

What the hell is wrong with all you people? Since when has a true petrolhead been so bothered by brand and the way a car looks?
So a true petrolhead are happy to that everyone thinks they're a nobend chav? Gotcha. In that case I'm a false petrolhead.

You might want to ask your neighbours. That might be what you think they're thinking. The reality is, they're thinking "will you look at what that nobend has bought now...."
Insecure much?

Why do you give a fk what anyone else thinks?

in red looks much better I think, and it seems to have unanimous praise (evo/autocar/etc) I think lots will be sold on decent PCP deals

Why did it have to look so bloody awful? I'd be first in the queue if it didn't look so damned terrible.
I agree - that is not an attractive car by any stretch of the imagination.

That said however, performance Hondas have never exactly been the height of visual style and sophistication.

In terms of sticking to the Type R brief of extreme performance and visual bravado, it seems to be right on the money. They even appear to have done a reasonable job of at trying to retain some of the Vtec elements despite the move to turbo power, which is admirable.

Its not my sort of car, but I can admire what they have done here and wish Honda success. The more manufacturers keeping the performance car concept alive the better.

I don't.

Given the very low sales targets for this car (6.5% market share) I would suspect that although residuals won't be too bad (given the low volume) the APR will be higher (meaning less lease / PCP deals) as there won't be too many incentives to sell volume given the low targets.

From the Honda website, based on the standard model at just under 30k

£8740 down
36 payments of £299
Balloon of £13,600
5.9%APR, interest rate of 5.77%
Not bad as far as depreciation prediction goes, then. Similar retained value to the 5 door Golf R predictions on What Car (£32k down to £15k after 3 years). People are too spoiled by some of the unrealistic PCPs that were bandied around last year.

Because everyone does, including you, no matter whether you pretend you don't, unless you're a sociopath.

Not sure why people think you would be a chav or a tit buying one of these, Porsche drivers don't seem to have any problems with what other people think

For those in the know, or who cannot read the 12 inch high german lettering on the rear arch, that is a Porsche Turbo SS.

tongue out

I am glad Honda have made it like they have. Sounds like a great drive and I can imagine in the wild they will not be being driven slowly....

The strap line for the piece would have read better I think if you'd used the Poison album name - Open Up and Say ahhh (R). But that's being picky.

I think it looks good.

When it comes to cars I really couldn't care less what people think. I'm not even pretending, honestly!

Interestingly it sounds like most people on here think you are wrong and so actually don't care what you think. Ironic eh?

I buzzed over this since the concept's, previews and what not month's ago, can't wait them on the road, defiantly going to stand out, just as the Mk2 Focus RS did which is a great thing.

Well thank god it's not another white good with big angine, all subtle and suave.
I like a car which states it's nature!...and whilst confused I like the interior approach also.
Real engine noises too.. and what appears to be an awesome manual gearbox.

What I don't like is:
The yawning meterage of bodywork between the rear wheelarch and the side window line
4 Exhaust pipes
The excuse for a rear wing/light set up when the concept promised an easily produced better alternative.

Heh, yes agreed. I always find it amusing when I hear someone "doesn't give a censored", everyone wants acceptance/approval from at least some social group or other, no sure why there's this pretence that they don't. Ones choices as a consumer aren't formed in a vacuum.
