Noble wins the hill climb and the Pistonheads glitterati are dribbling on about Porsche, making excuses for the 918. Amazing.

I don't care who was faster than who or whether the 918 should have been faster - I just want to see that Rolls-Royce!

Well done Noble for winning and Noble and Aston putting Porsche firmly in their place.

Porsche 10th, "must have been a customer car". Presumably none of the absolute top 10 were customer cars presuambly or worth consierably more than the 918.
You really don't like the 918 do you? hehe

Gordon Robertson runs the Porsche experience centre at Silverstone and while he obviously has experience in driving some quick cars he's certainly no Anthony Reid.

Taking nothing away from the Noble as it's an awesome bit of kit but it's not really a fair comparison is it.

I was there on Friday and there was a purple (wrapped, I assume) Phantom giving it the absolute beans. Never seen a RR corner quite like it, still made sod all noise aside from tyre roar as it went past though!

If you were there then you would know that most of these times aren't full out because of traffic in front of the cars. If one car decides to take it easy then it affects all cars behind them.
I was at the first FOS and I've been numerous times since. My comment was really for the benefit of those that were trying to read something into the results.

Great to see Noble and Reid top the time sheets.

I saw quick Nick's lap again during the Sky coverage.

Wow.

He was properly on the edge - the car was moving about all over the place. It sounded sooo good too!

I don't think his time will ever be beaten, do you?

Yes, so was mine haha, I wasn't responding to your original comment.
It more more directed to the guy who was slating the 918...

A Noble M600 is around £300,000 in the UK, although the M12 variants are still more than fast enough.

Superb to see the Noble winning.

I wouldn't even look at a Porsche if I was in that market place.

It's brilliant marketing for a small firm like Noble. Well worth coughing up to secure Anthony Reid.

This. The other drivers could have been wearing high heels for all I care, the RR appearing in the top 10 is astonishing.

While I love Goodwood and everything about it, that hill is far too restrictive/dangerous for most 200mph plus cars to give anywhere near 100% in supposed 'speed trials'.

Now i was watching this the on the live feed the other day and if i remember rightly (and i know its a large car carrying a fair bit of weight) the pitching and lurching from the Ghost was almost comedic. I have no idea how it managed that 6th position as it did not look pretty going round that course.
