RE: The £70K M3 CSL: Spotted
Discussion
What is not highlighted properly in the ad, and what no one in 15 pages has mentioned is that the running in service for this car is way off the specified BMW schedule.
The car had it's running in service at 462 miles, way before the recommended 1200 miles. For £70,000, it needs to be perfect!!

Late running in service is much worse than an early one.The car had it's running in service at 462 miles, way before the recommended 1200 miles. For £70,000, it needs to be perfect!!
Still overpriced but someone will buy it when it drops again to 50-60k

What was up with the EVO mag CSL time round there?
I'm not sure what you mean? But as Leins says, maybe it was tyres or circuit subtleties
Maybe it was just slower than a fat Datsun ?
I'd struggle to believe an M135i would be faster given the same driver and conditions.
At Silverstone recently...
And in the sunshine this weekend...
And that CF airbox + a Hayward & Scott back box:

The GT4 will be a massive hit, and prices will remain high, as people identify it with a newer/cheaper GT3 alternative. Especially with lap times being very close to a GT3.
What will be interesting is what happens with the new/proposed M2 GTS/CSL and M4 GTS/CSL due to be released early next year. I have the M2 flavour on order, and will be selling the E46 to part fund it, so long may the prices increase - well for the next 6-9 months or so at least!

I know I am in the minority and I am not slating it for slating sake but to me the S54 just doesn't sound that good to my ears and its just too tinny and wasp like, I prefer a more bass/deep like sound track rather than something that sounds like a Honda Vtec.
I have to say I probably agree, I much prefer the noise from the front (71' Hakosuka GTR-esque) than the back.I saw that when it came out and LOL'd. You try doing two laps EXACTLY the same time, even in EXACTLY the same car. Even F1 drivers struggle to do that and their times even deviate by a few hundreths and they're used to trying to lap consistently. Was obviously marketing PR BS to show how good the 235i was, at the same time as not wanting to show the CSL in a bad light. However, one HAD to be faster that then other (even with his caveat of taking it easy on the CSL due to it's woefully inadequate brakes ).

It's not. When I encountered one, they were both about the same on the straights but the CSL was much faster in the corners and in braking, the benefits of weight, brakes, diff, tyres, chassis/suspension, a little downforce I guess and wheelbase.I'd struggle to believe an M135i would be faster given the same driver and conditions.
You can see the 135i twitching in the fast corners in this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X324eNn9HUU
My daily is a M135i
The M135i has way more low down power and the 8 speed auto helps. It actually feels a bit quicker too with the turbocharged power delivery. However top end it lacks when the CSL starts singing.
The CSL progressively builds speed as revs rise but you sometimes lose a sense of what speed you are doing. After nailing it and people look at the speedo they can't believe we got there that quickly. Don't get same in M135i
I'm an average driver. Round a track, and especially on a damp B road the M135i is quicker with me behind the wheel. Performance is easier to exploit but almost too easy. To be honest I couldn't care less if the M135i is marginally quicker or slower on track, the CSL is way more fun. Both though are cracking cars

The standard M3 is not a patch on an Integra DC2 in many ways IMO, sound and appeal of engine being one of a long list. And I am not sure this dealer has an overwhelmingly good reputation either? Personally I think you would need to be certifiable to buy it.
Only just spotted this article and was gobsmacked at the E30 prices mentioned. Just checked... E30 M3 Sport Evo with 3,427 km on the clock. Yours for just €299,000
