A bit lost here .. Why does the journalist write in the 3rd para .. 'while the Cayman, if you could buy it (which you can't),' ? as I understand the Cayman GT4 is being released in the UK.

It's a limited run and they've all sold out.

No the allocation has sold out. It's not a limited run. It never was. Something people here find very hard to believe no matter how many times Porsche say it.

They are making more, including a PDK version. So that means they are making LOTS more.

Cringe. Simply not true. Porsche has made clear that it has no plans for a PDK.

I was talking to my local dealer yesterday and he tells me their allocation is 7 cars for 15-16. Not sure if that's until the next new reg but whatever it isn't many cars. They have no knowledge of PDK cars or more standard cars as yet despite what I've read on here.
I've sold my V6 Exige to replace it with a GT4 and I have no idea whether that's a mistake but when the opportunity arose I didn't think twice about it. The Lotus was a great little car but for me there was too many compromises to miss the chance of the GT4. First was access in and out of the car, it is a pita. Then there's quality issues with things such as headlights, you can't actually see in the dark on a wet and windy night, A/c you cant see if it's on or off the switch is illuminated but you cant actually see it. These things I am happy to put up with if the car was very quick and while it is moderately quick it doesn't justify the compromises made (for me anyway).
All that said if I don't like the Gt4 I would consider another Lotus but maybe an Evora 400.
Each to their own and neither is wrong.

I never understand these comments about waiting for a 400.

How much quicker do people want these cars to be? 0-60 in under 4 seconds, 0-100 in well under 10 seconds and more than enough mid range umph to cope with every situation you can find unless you find yourself in the unfortuante position of being in a drag race with the Mercedes F1 Car being driven by Hamilton.

All of that with handling that is second to none in relatively comparable packages.

I never do standing starts in the Exige, or in any car actually and I cannot see there will be any noticeable difference when moving between a 345bhp Lotus and a 400bhp Lotus, unless we are getting into licence losing speeds which most people probably aren't as they do not take their cars on track.

I'm told the 400s have heavily revised sills so it's much easier to get into and out of, I would have thought that was a valid reason to wait for one, especially if you have mobility problems or just aren't as limber as you would like, and want to use the car daily.

Well from my point of view the Evora would be a more practical car to get in and out of and why not have the 400 you can never have too much power. This license losing theory is down to self control. The pedal on the right isn't a switch there's a option to go anywhere in between.
It's funny when me and my mates go out for a drive at the weekends on the roads the difference between the 600bhp cars and the Caterham's is nothing apart from along the dual carriageways and even then the Caterham's still manage some fairly outrageous speeds.

Arent they're all quoting the source as being the Cayman forum - Planet-9? Because they've already pulled it as they're not sure anymore. It seems to have gone viral just from one bloke posting he met someone from Porsche...

Full body cringe! Some bloke on a forum said that AP said something. Massively embarrassing that you think that is confirmation of Porsche policy.

Why don't we just see what happens?

This whole 'cringe' thing of yours is completely infantile but, if that's your thing, I look forward to the teenage-boy-caught-cracking-one-off-by-his-Mum-posted-on-youtube level cringe when Porsche make the official announcement!

I guess that's new username time for you.

Posts by ORD - now that's something that really will have a limited production run!

I'm just playing along with Mr Grumpy.

I have no more idea than he does what Porsche will ultimately do, but I would be surprised if a PDK GT4 comes along anytime soon.

the lotus looks brilliant, so wins. The porsche looks like a girls car, in a bad way. Maybe its the horrible yellow.
