One of my new pet hates (in as much as you can get hate on these things!). Vloggers doing "collaborative" videos with each other

I appreciate they want to cross-fertilise on subscribers, but its all very artificial; the Vloggers have different personalities and styles, don't dilute it down by combining it with a forced combination with another Vlogger that I really can't stand!
Does that extend to me featuring Lenny in my last video? Because the whole series will be with different guests per episode.

It was more a generic comment Tom, not one specific video. I've just seen this trend developing whereby everyone seems to be appearing on everyone else's videos (Paul from Supercars of London seems to pop up everywhere, fully expecting him to turn up as the Stig on some future episode of Top Gear). Sometimes it just feels very "forced".

eg STG turns up while Tim is filming his GT8/Vanquish at Black Lake and has quite a stilted conversation with him about something (I cant even remember what), but it really came across as an attempt to just acquire each others subscribers (when I think both might have been better off filming something of their own)

Likewise my Youtube page seems to be full of trips to Monaco with Paul and assorted others (I think there's one where Mr JWW is driving an Aventador and Paul is sat in the passenger seat gurning). Why?

I guess what annoys me slightly is the inevitable commercialisation that's taking place. It feels less about having fun, sharing a passion for the cars and more and more about click-baiting, product placement and (in this case) a desperation to pull in some new subscribers.

Don't get me wrong, I'd probably do the same thing if I were in your/Tim's/Paul's place, but it doesn't stop it from being a little disappointing, like watching an elderly (and clearly cash strapped) John Cleese re-enacting a famous Faulty Towers scene for Specsavers....

One I haven't yet seen mentioned is 'Queen B'. Relatively new - I think Sam STG introduced her originally in one of his videos. I do wonder how she got her break, the videos are well shot and edited, she has been given press cars and joined the likes of Shmee on Euro tours. I'm guessing she must know some of the established guys/contacts as the channel is still young and <25k subs.

Either way I like the fact that instead of a supercar she has an E21 beemer and presents an alternative to the usual guys. Just a shame there aren't many videos and the view count isn't very high.

FWIW, I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with Tim (Shmee) whilst his GT8 was being built and he was a genuinely nice bloke, answered anything I asked him openly and we had a few decent car chats. He was also really respectful regarding what he could and couldn't film and asked before doing anything. I think he comes across in the same way on here so it's sad to see him get a hard time from some.

Also, if you're reading this TGE I've been really enjoying your videos recently. Love the style and not taking yourself seriously along with the impressive car collection.

Does he get a hard time Shrimp? Not been through all 233 pages of the thread smile

And besides I sense he's got a tough enough hide to deal with the criticism (I guess you need to have to be in his line of work!)

The GT8 series was great (ofc I'm biased). Informative and excellently conveyed Tim's excitement for the car

I think the main problem with featuring someone like Lenny who's very established in Sams videos is it almost feels like it's moving away from the "i don't give a fk this is my life" lifestyle videos, which is what makes your channel different, and trying to fit into the car vlogger niche like the rest.

Of course we're all over analyzing things here which is the nature of the thread.

Subscribe to Queen B channel. Very low output on video's so you expect her views to be very low. Does have a nice E21, and apparently she likes old cars as her dad used to race them.

Haha, fair. The BBB series will always have new faces in it, (collabos), the rest of the videos though will continue to be along the usual lines as seen so far.
BBB though will always have the salient elements that make it a series; think it's good to have a mix of both, and the fitness/food elements distance me from 'just' being a car bore. Which in real life I'm not either. And the guys that watch my videos (97% are male) aren't just into cars either, there are a lot of shared interests in this demographic which I will happily cater too within what I'm into also.
Rah, as they say.

As someone who's a massive gym geek, I'm not arguing! I hope there's some non-car vloggers in the rest of BBB smile

Yeh there will be; have started with 'relevant' people to the audience I've built but will start going more out there into the fitness world and further afield. Do by all means make some suggestions. Someone suggested Aleem yesterday under my last video, to which then mayhem & civil war ensued. Lol.

I mean, given my credentials... https://youtu.be/NxRfpohJHEA?t=55swink

All the fitness guys I follow are stateside, after a bit more growth definitely do a sam and go to LA for a bit for colabs. CT Fletcher would be hilarious, though I imagine he's expensive now.

I'm also wondering when the gaming crossovers will start. All the big gaming vloggers have massive followers and supercars they like to talk about. Half of them are into fitness too. The whole car/gym/gaming/travel boundaries are getting super blurred and the gamers have the numbers advantage due to the nature of the beast.

Gamers moving into automotive could do very well.

What I want to know TGE is where you get all your kicks from. Do you have a plug or have to buy resell or know how to get them at retail anyway?

I have a good contact or two on the most part and get at retail. Occasionally I'll bite the bullet and pay 'overs' if I have to.
Will do a kicks content very soon, just been mad busy at work and other work.

I've watched a couple of the big gamers doing 'Picking up my NEW SUPERCAR lolz!!111!!' and if it's like that, nobody in the car world will watch it. THey didn't have the slightest clue about what the details were on the car they were buying. It was just "I'd like one Lamborrari pls"

See Archie has "bought" a R8 V10 Plus. Haven't watched the video (I won't), just saw it on my feed.
