Please put a clear description next time so I don't end up clicking on another dreadful CAPSLOCKED, clickbaiting, 'stupid wker pose in-front of car', regurgitated and completely content-free Archie vid.

This also applies to Seb. Any video by either linked her MUST have a clear description, preferably in big bold letters, and maybe hide the link in spoilers to make it harder for people to click it by mistake. Thanks.
Lol +1 - that's why I don't click on any links in this thread

Only in Italy could you get away with this.

Sam from STG goes for a pretty quick drive with a cigarette-puffing Joe Macari in the Maserati MC12 race car. Not only does he not have a seat but no belts either. I am not sure if he is being a hero or very stupid, you decide.

That's a great video and must have been a hugely exhilarating (and possibly a bit scary) experience. So raw, firm and noisy, and hilarious that he relights his cigarette half way up!

What did you expect????

There's a reason that they post these links without a clear description.

Just watched. Joe Macari is officially my new hero.

Even with "lovely" rent rolling in it must be a hell of a house to give you enough money to buy a house outright after 12 months.

It works tbf, and he knows it. His channel is absolutely flying compared to some of the usual names, like it or not.
Semi tempted to wrap the Aventador S something outrageous just to rustle & show how well it works for social/Youtube growth.

slightly proved my point that "the internet" in general doesn't care about classic cars, sadly.
Which is an interesting debate I was having at work the other day whilst we were standing looking at a few classic Porsches belonging to customers.

Are younger people interested in classic cars? Will we get to a stage where simply no one will want them?

Antiques are potentially a similar case in point. Barely anyone wants them any more, the market is collapsing. My parents have a house full of antiques that they have collected over 40 years or so, including things like a £30,000 dining table and chairs, but my generation simply isn't particularly interested in them and the next generation even less so. What will happen to all these pieces?

I can't honestly see the upcoming generations being interested at all in E-Type jaguars and Ferrari Dinos.

I find it sad but potentially possible.
There are two things at work here, firstly is youth. The 'internet' really means the younger people. Very few young people are ever interested in 'old' things during their youth. They become interested in their dotage. So, the youth of today will be having an investment wkfest in 30 years time over products from today that they aspired to but couldn't afford in their youth. Others will grow to enjoy fine wines, older cars and antiques.

So because the 'youth' of today has no interest currently in the trinkets of the past what we know is that these tend to be tastes that the masses grow into. Plus, we are in a boom market for classic cars and in those conditions plenty of people just follow the herd.

The more relevant issue to the youth of today is whether they will be able to afford these things when they mature into them? And the answer is no. There are fewer of them earning money than there were the current older generation and they have far, far less money and almost no appreciating assets.

So it's not that they won't grow in to wanting classic cars but that classic car values will have to adjust to compensate for the vastly lower wealth that today's youth will have in their dotage.

But....but...his dad has planes & helicopters and a RRS...all from selling fruit machines to pubs...im in the wrong business!!

Doesn't matter anyway as his little Corsa B will spank the pants off any supercar wobble
Lucrative business, think of how many pubs there are in the country, how many of them have fruities, then cruise ships, amusement arcades etc. Then they need updating or maintenance - someones got to do it, alot of pubs forget to empty the machines as well so the engineer gets a bonus.

Be the sole supplier or one of a few in a niche industry and watch the money role in.

How does your maths add up? Takes you 24 months to save for the first house, then every 12 months after that?
Could just be buying houses in the less nicer places and then renting them back to the council as housing stock. Could get anything from 500+ pcm but pretax + consumerables etc.

But yeah i think hes full of st as well given he cant give any details of the twin turbo lambo hes been in

Unsurprisingly I have the entirety of both laps on video which would make for a few full minutes of driving, and to be honest it was quite awesome. However, I don't edit it like that because experience has shown me that doing so leads to a substantial drop off rate in viewership.

Continuous talking keeps the viewer engaged because there's a constant change in what's going on or being said. Equivalently holding a camera angle for too long has the same impact because attention is about 3 seconds and then the cross gets clicked.

YouTube primarily drives traffic based on watch time and retention so you have to do everything you can to maximise that. Naturally a die hard automotive audience would want more of that purist content, but akin to Top Gear, if you chase that audience you can never reach as large an audience as if you make it more towards entertainment in general.
As you have the content why not run a second channel that is aimed at the smaller demographic and open up new marketing streams to a different audience. You're more than capable of delivering a much more mature and intelligent level of content. As a well educated and intelligent chap don't you find it depressing having to Mr Tumble your content for the global fruit and veg of society just in the hope that they will watch an advert about a tat product no one has any need of?

Well, I guess he has to assess how much return he'll make from the effort, and it doesn't pay as well. Doing it for the satisfaction of showing he can make more "pure enthusiast" content, and sod whether teenage image obsessives watch it? Well, maybe, but it's got to be a bit of a busman's holiday at some point.

I know DannyDC2 has on more than a few occasions prefaced his videos with a "some of you don't like this car/content, but I do, so there" - which is to my mind perfectly reasonable, but this isn't his job. He doesn't need to care if a bunch of Honda fanboys refuse to watch BMW content, it's not putting food on the table.

I'm sure it won't pay directly anywhere near the amount of the normal stuff but every business looks to grow areas and to hedge their core business. It would be a more long term aspect to hedge against how the industry evolves. Plus, the advertisers would be wholly different with different relationships. Not every advertiser has the model of selling as much tat on finance to as many mugs as possible.

How much does the much discussed and feared 'YouTube Algorithm' penalise channels for having the odd 'duff' (in terms of viewing figures) video amongst a sea of more successful ones?

A Youtuber making an unpopular but worthy video is not dissimilar to Hollywood Stars doing an art house movie for the glory and then some feeble blockbuster for the money.

In my (limited) experience, the algo is weighted more on a per video basis, than overall channel perception. I'm sure Tim will have some amazing data given his youtube-stat addiction hehe

No way would I have accepted a ride like that, with that Macari fella. Wouldn’t be a pleasant way to pop your clogs, death via passive smoking.
