I recommend watching LivingLifeFast if you're into attainable and modified cars, drives them hard too. Very good production quality with interesting companies/people. Been following him since ~1k subs, he's pretty close to the hitting the same amount of views as some of the 'big' YT gimps like Archie/TGE

I shop in ikea and I have beard. Maybe I should start doing vlogs? Though I only have a TAG watch and 14 year old Merc I am sure I could make it work..

US journalists perplexed by European journalists posing by new cars on launch - https://twitter.com/stevenewing/status/96637842908...

I think they'll be seeing more of this with vloggers because they're part of the story and probably because they want to promote the clothing line they're flogging.

TGE is trolling everyone. I wonder what his youtube revenues look like as he fine tuned the art of making a video about nothing just for views and subs.

Oh boy when I'm at a motorshow and trying to take videos of a new car and then you see older, presumably written journalists, trying to work out how to take a selfie of themselves but with no clue what they are doing... that gets awkward!

I grab one shot of me by a car which is for the thumbnail, but minimise the inconvenience of doing it; whereas I have to wait a very, very, very long time for people to stand leaning against them drinking a coffee because they couldn't do that 10 metres away.

biggrin

Haha - it's a brave new world. Maybe manufacturers should introduce a supermarket deli-style ticket system where people get a limited time to do their thing before being moved on!

At Geneva last year they revealed the 812 (I think) and instantly the stand was filled by lots of 'important' Italians in suits posing with the car getting selfies. For the entire world's press who just wanted one single clear shot of the damn car it was frustrating to say the least.

You won't be surprised to know that I have a fully planned out 3 days with scheduled shutdown time to access cars. Often I've got 30 minute slots with ropes around and an expert on hand to walk through the car and ask questions.

Is this something you've organised off your own back, or an arrangement they make for people as a regular thing?

My guys keep in touch with the PR teams from every car company throughout the year so it's part of the ongoing discussions along with scheduling in when press launches are, what other events or themed content opportunities could be there etc.

Wrap them in cling film and head to McDonalds! Sorted!

You'll probably get asked to do ''public reaction videos'' if what AH says is to be believed.

Good idea. Also, forget Ikea, no car vloggers have done the whole "ordering something in Argos" thing yet. Needs doing, the whole thing; the thumbing through the catalogue, the filling out your order like a betting slip, with those funny little bookie's pens, and then the hopeful presentation of your wish list to the checkout operator. And finally.... the goods arriving at the collection point.
