RE: Mercedes E-Class AMG: Market Watch

What are these like for rear seat passengers? Can you get 3 kids in them comfortably enough?
I'm starting to daydream about owning a normal car again as my 3 kids are nearly all out of the full size car seats. I can't live knowing I'm destined to replace the Ford galaxy with another ford galaxy/smax. Soul destroying.
Why won't car manufacturers put a bit more effort in making that middle seat more usable!?

Like utterpiffle I'm 8 weeks into s211 e63 ownership and I really think it's the perfect blend of power, noise, comfort, space (for 3 kids), presence and loads of other superlatives. Even my uncle who's owned some very tasty motors has looked at selling his NSX and buying an e63, on the basis of a 5 minute spin in my car. I bought the cheapest I could find (just to see how bad it could be!) but it just feels so nicely screwed together. I've never looked at a car as an investment but this one looks to be a future classic - another 5 years and I reckon their rarity and engine will keep values high. That and the fact a certain Jezza C loaded my car with cheese and power slided it around an airport
Ah, you bought XFC then... A fine choice, sir. I was tempted by that one, but held out as really wanted 7 seats. Nice to have the providence/history though. I didn't pay much more for mine than the asking price on yours, but I notice the two that have been for sale since are far more money. Maybe prices have gone up quicker than we thought!
Mine goes in for some excess exhaust removal tomorrow. Not sure if wise, but looking forward to hearing the potential mistake.
I did indeed I wanted 7 seats too really but I'm impulsive so bought it anyway! I'd be interested to hear what you think of yours with a bit more volume - please share a clip or two when it's done! I've already been offered a chunk more than I paid but I couldn't face buying a people carrier to replace it. It stays for now

The C class is tight for adults and fine for smaller children. You can get three adults reasonably comfortably in an E class.Agree with Utterpiffle above, you've pretty much got to go for an M156, the engine with the most character. You can still find very good E classes out there with great specs. I ended up with an ExMBUK Demo car which was fully loaded. The earlier E classes S212 pre-facelift seem to stand up to wear and tear much better than later cars. My C63s both had creaky trim and seats at 15kmiles whereas my S212 is still going strong past 70k miles (it's SOOO good for intercontinental journeys, Switzerland twice and Scotland twice this year alone....) with no untoward creaks or rattles.
Yeah, mines an ex-demo too, so it's got toys
Designo interior (black/tan), Designo paint, active seats, distronic adaptive cruise, split rims etc. A very nice place to be. No LSD though unfortunately (yet).
I had the exhaust done on Saturday. Minus two cats and the resonator, x-pipe added. Sounds brutal on the outside, and yet still amazingly quiet and refined inside with the windows up. Words cannot describe how happy I am with it! The noise on hard acceleration is addictive, but I just love the pops and bangs on overrun, especially through tunnels. If you love the v8 song, this mod is an absolute must!
Not got a decent video of it yet, just a quick one when it was still on the ramp. That short video and some photos of the car / exhaust install are on my Instagram feed: https://www.instagram.com/scrapingscrap/
