I have a thing for the Dacia Duster...
Discussion
OK. I am coming out.
I just cannot get excited about most new cars. Except. My 911 and
The Dacia Duster 100 TCE Access.
Is it only me?
The only true modern equivalent of the Series 2 Landrover I had in the 1980's. But brand new!
No badge snobbery. No Hyacinth Audi Q5/Evoqueness.
I am pretty sure that if I were a billionaire on the South Coast of France or some Branson Island with nothing to prove, this would be my choice.
The engine is so tiny it would fit in a suitcase, yet the car will still do 80 on the motorway and go anywhere and do any thing.
It might even be possible for one of my horrible 6ft + teenager sons to drive as the insurance group is so low.
Brand new for £11k. With a warranty.
Am I missing something here?
It looks like motoring heaven. I must be going mad.

When we were in Iceland recently we noticed two cars the locals used on their roads....Suzuki Swifts and Dacia Dusters....
How many of the Swift's and Duster's where 4x4 , I figure Iceland where the terrain and weather isn't always accomodating might see the value in these 2 when even the AWD versions are cheap.Bagzie88 said:

Fair number were the 4x4 versions. We had the joys of a Toyota Yaris, possibly the worse car I’ve ever driven.sheepman said:
horrid things, not for me.
My dad has a Dacia duster ambiance 4x4 and it's a terrible car to drive , feels like an old van but he bought it as a second car and it's been used as a doggy wagon and tip runner which its perfect for. These are not meant to for pistonheaders they are meant to be cheap utility transport for people who don't care about badges.
A boggo poverty spec Dacia Duster, complete with the unpainted plastic bumpers and steel wheels, is a wonderful thing.
I always smile when I see one in the above spec, usually owned by someone with plenty money but no interest in a shiny car, they just want something cheap, reliable, rugged and not at all precious.
£11k, spectacular value. I’ve no need for one or space for one but I’m so tempted. Even comes with wiring in case you want to fit a stereo.

We rented one in Iceland. It was brilliant on the F Roads, climbing gravel, wading through rivers, full on 4 wheel drifting at speed.Edited by MC Bodge on Friday 29th May 22:20
I love these on steelies with unpainted trim, a guy round here has one with an industrial looking roof rack and it just looks proper, like a Lada Niva.
On the other hand I think the poshed up ones are ridiculous and more grasping/ aspirational than the folks in their entry level ‘premium’ stuff.
