RE: Ford Focus RS: Review
Discussion
Ive been looking at the selling prices of these and considering they are in high demand, there's a glut of pre reg delivery miles being offered by trade and private sellers that just don't seem to be selling. There seems to be more MK3 RS for sale than MK2 on the used market.
I know RS direct have sold loads, but it does seem the demand or perceived lack of, is having an effect on the speculator sellers. A few months ago there wasn't any less than 35k, now there are loads for sale close to retail and below.

I have seen loads of cars advertised and sold. Not sure where you are getting that from. RS direct just use the same pics for each car and I expect are selling plenty.
There are also lots of Civic type-Rs for sale as well as Meganes, Golf Rs, A45s, Porsches, M3s, M4s, M2s, RS3s, RS4s etc etc. Every sort of modern car indeed has plenty for sale currently.
A base spec RS was £31k originally. You would be lucky to find a car for that money now. They are all hovering around their original sale price.

Base price was £28,940 originally - but that was a "deposit down - specs unknown" price.Edited by Ahbefive on Thursday 5th January 21:08

Base price was £28,940 originally - but that was a "deposit down - specs unknown" price.I agreed a deal on an RS with Forza Line Cars the day before NYE. I sent a deposit that they asked for and we agreed I'd collect the car on the 2nd of Jan so I went ahead and arranged a chaps payment With my bank and booked train tickets from London to Coventry where they agreed to give me a lift .
All went quiet when I asked where my receipt had gone for the deposit and then eventually on New Year's Day I get an email saying there had been a mix up and the car had already been sold .
When I finally got one of them on the phone I was told the car had been sold on NYE to a guy they had been negotiating with for two weeks .
I pointed out that I'd agreed to buy the car the day before NYE!
The car is still on there website oddly enough but I'm feeling pretty hacked off , in fact I'm going to post this on general gassing to see what others make of it .

Pretty sure that's their demo car as that's the only reason it would be so cheap I reckon - they have a black one with 5k on the clock for £33991 which is more like it on site at the same dealer.https://www.trustford.co.uk/used-car-details/used-...
So what do we make of the mk3 now time has moved on a little ?
The much talked about engine issues, any other snagging issues (if any) and where prices are now.
I see two cars at 27k which I'm sure you'd be able to buy at 26ish. I do think for that money it's an amazing car.
There is definite price convergence with the mk2 so how low do they go?
Personally I can see them going to where higher mileage mk2's are now but being a real slow burner .
Have just bought a car but can see myself getting into one of these at some stage

It works for me, fun on country roads, launch control is a giggle but if your expecting something with a bit of 'oomph' your probably going to be disappointed with the standard map.
I don’t by a car on its expected deprecation but it’s always a boost if it keeps its value higher than expected.

I think that there will be enough of them about, so, I doubt there will be much of a premium for them in a year or two!
If you really want one, buy one, but, if you're sat on the fence, weighing up your options, I wouldn't be surprised if you walked away after a test drive!
All in my own opinion obviously

I had a passenger ride in one last weekend when i did a track day at Anglesey in my dad's 911. What a seriously awesome machine!
The grip on the 4WD system was just something else. His had the MP375 kit on it and it just pulled so well and made some lovely noises on the overrun/upshifts. The general engine noise sounded very pleasant too for a 4-cylinder.
I didn't actually drive it but what i experienced was very positive. In fact, i'd say it felt much quicker than the 997 i was driving due to the turbo punch.

Cheers, i can see these topics get rather heated :-)As they say you pays your money you take your chance. I think the only reason these cars are offered at 27k now is due to the early engine issues.
Lets be honest, in most of the comparison tests the FRS came out on top so it aint all bad.
Would you own one out of warranty after 5yrs is the question? For me yes as if the engine had been previously replaced.
Would you own a Porsche out of warranty? For me yes as the engines are generally sound. Porsche have given ten year warranties now with GT3 engines after the first batch of 991 RS's went pop!
Not really a brilliant comparison maybe but you get my thinking.
