Running a van for private purposes?

Resale isn't a big issue, I'm looking for something I can run into the ground and throw away when the time comes. An ordinary estate would probably do, no need for blacked out windows - not planning to keep anything in it. Similarly I'd be after a van with clear rear glazing so would be easy to see that it's empty.

I guess this kind of answers a lot of my questions - no real advantage to a small van over a medium sized estate, at least not for this sort of use.
