I do like a good pickup conversion. The key is finding a car with a suitable wheelbase and rear overhang, for example this mk2 Polo pickup based on a saloon looks good.

However one based on the mk2 Polo Bread van less so

VW also tried a Corrado pickup which in my opinion looks horrendous

The Sweedes seem to do a pickup conversion or two Volvo 850 also works well

what is the new law with cars made into pick ups? people lead me to believe that they aren't legal anymore.

Saw a 3 Series Beemer conversion last summer, that looked pretty cool & a nice change from the V Dub crowd.

There is no "new law".

SVA was introduced in 1998, and the points system has been in place since at least then.

exactly - for vehicles which are monocoques - hacking the shell about that much means it;s nigh on impossible ot escape classification as radically altered

A garage in edinburgh has been building a jag xj pickup for years, could be finished now, it was looking very nicely done the last time i seen it.
