I'm thinking of one for my next car, probably a couple of years old.

Anything I need to look out for? Where can I get a good deal?

Compare the second hand deals to this new lease car deal.

Had ours for a year now, cannot really fault it as a way to get from A to B. Ours has adaptive cruise control which makes M-way work much more relaxed. As far as I'm aware there are no real 'issues' with them. We see a real-life 40-45mpg when driving around in rush hour traffic (1hr to travel 15-20 miles), on M-way runs 60mpg+ if you stick to the speed limit. Very happy with ours, it'll be staying in the family for a long time yet.

The eCVT drivetrain is so much more refined for commuting work compared to the diesel Civic it replaced. It's only noisy when you go full throttle, and the noise is no worse than that of a diesel been revved….But sadly the electronic safeguards don't let you have as much fun as you could in a 200bhp, RWD, car on a snow/icey car park wink.

We got ours from car-wow with a 15% discount off list price.

I'm a few months off returning mine from a 2 year contract hire deal that was very good, similar to the one posted above.

I've completed approx 9000mi and had no real problems.

On the basic radio, it has old-school DAB like my first DAB radio where you had to pick the multiplex you want before you could scan through stations within that particular multiplex. On my first DAB radio at home, you could just switch through multiplexes. On the basic Lexus IS300h radio, you have to go into the frigging service menu (which requires you to pat your head while rubbing your stomach while licking your elbow, or the equivalent of using various pedals and switchgear in the car when it is turned off) to switch multiplex.

Not a real issue in fairness as it's easy to switch between FM and DAB, so just find your DAB multiplex you prefer and set that - use FM radio for the BBC stuff which is easy to pick-up.

I found this out the hard way when my dealership did a software update (couldn't load NAV suddenly after about 14 months), and stuck me on a completely bizarre multiplex which left me with some religious stations... anyway, minor problem really.

Car has been faultless, never reset trip in the 9000 miles and just ticked up to 48mpg since it has been getting warmer. That's been a mix of driving in central London, on the continent, up and down the M1 so a decent blend.

My only complaint could be the slightly narrow boot mouth but has never really been a problem. You might stuggle with two full-size suitcases, but it's my only experience of a saloon in this segment so that might plague others too.

It's comfy, quiet, I'm quite fond of the styling, and actively rewards you for driving like an old man...

... I've got a Golf R Estate arriving next month evil

I've got one and it's great, I wouldn't worry about the less positive reviews about the cvt the gearbox, it's fine and really smooth and I've came from the new shape three series auto which everyone raves about. I get about 45mpg and probably could get more but would make very dull driving. In sport mode it actually goes really well, certainly keeps up with most 2.0lt diesels around, actually better from about 40mph to 90mph I'd say, well certainly feels it.

Build quality is the best I've seen and the only new car that has been back to the dealer, not a minor rattle or shake. Lexus dealers also execelent, only downside is that the service is on 10k or 1 year and it's £245 minor and £450 ush major. Other than that a brilliant reliable car, I'd have another but won't get the same contract hire dal I got.
