Another slant, my 20 year od Mondeo has just had it's MOT and passed smile The tyres are near illegal (which I knew about, wasn't going to buy a few hundred quids worth of tyres if the car is scrap in a few weeks) and the front brake discs have been advised on. All the parts are sat in my garage ready to be fitted this weekend. If someone were to buy it off me after I've done al this work why on earth would they be worried about seeing the MOT history? It would be obvious it has had the work done. Does it mean the car wasn't cared for? Not at all.

Ok, I just checked my fathers car... some oddities with the dates and mileages... I'm a little perplexed and a tad anxious here - what could this mean?

That really makes no sense.

4/10/11 6,426
19/10/11 20,044
11/09/12 11,033
30/10/12 21,999
26/10/13 17,906
02/05/14 25,972
25/10/14 30,275
01/05/15 26,733
25/07/15 36,614
20/11/15 27,836

Why on earth is it being MoT'd so often?

To me it looks more like there are two or more cars there and the MoT system has gone completely daffy, plate change confusion maybe? If you extract every second entry from the list it seems to make a lot more sense.

If it's clocking it's the most grossly incompetent attempt I've ever seen. I'd be questioning the data myself, although clocking is a possibility I guess.

Interesting...... thank you for that. I will try to delve deeper.

Agreed. I'd say that it's a plate change that's got confused.

What does the current certificate say on it for the last few mileages?

The website is great, my wife and I used it quite a bit while shopping for our last car. You can tell quite a bit about the owners by how badly it does on MOT, and also use advisories are bargaining tools for when you find a good one.
The look you get off the vendor though when you say ah but the MOT said this, this and this, it's like it wasnt meant to be known biggrin

Yep, it accurately reflects the state the car was in when you took it for the test.
Tiny snapshot of owner history that doesn't give a full insight into how the car has been treated.
You're right. A clean entry wouldn't give a full insight into the neglect.
