So chaps Ive sorta got permission to acquire something cheap and convertible for the summer. Its costing me a baritone sax for one's wife, but its (almost) a cheap price to pay for permission to buy something for summer evenings.

So, budget is £1500. What is there?

MGF VVC and rotten MX5s I presume.
GTV Spiders seem to be at least £2500.

Anything Boxster like will end up costing a lot more depending on your capacity for ignoring problems / lying on your back covered in grease / handing over your hard earned to a so called specialist.

Can you tell the veneer is wearing off?

14 years ago I had a play in an Elise S2 111R. "I think I'll have one of those when they're down to 15k or so" said a Younger, Slimmer version of I.
bds never really dipped to that and are now back at 20k. FFS.

The Junior Zagatos are just fabulous little things......Our family accountant has had a couple and I've always wanted one yes

There were a couple of lovely 75s there, a red one very similar to that black car was another of my favourites.

Oh and how about this (Fiat 20vT engined) 155...... nuts (yes it is road legal and driven to Duxford)

I have a friend with a Fiat Tipo 20vT 4x4 - runs the 1/4 mile in the high 10s... One of the best executed sleepers that I have ever seen. I guess the only give away are the Alfa 4-pots and the bigger wheels. On the whole though, it is a car, which FIAT should have made... The faces of supercar owners as this thing annihilates them are beyond funny. Underneath it is all Integralle running gear, which apparently fits with minimum fuss...
