weeeeeeee!!!!!! I've always loved these (you can tell what my first two cars where can't you?). I just need to win the lottery so I can buy the Clubman that's coming up for auction in January.

You've got to have some bottle to be a co-driver reading the pacenotes..

Perhaps not particularly interesting in the grand scheme of cars but have just taken delivery of this-

First ever new car and I look forward to no hassle for a change! Initial impressions are excellent, suspect the media etc. will take a bit of getting used to but that's always half the fun.

Oh wow. That’s interesting. So far the symptoms I have include: rear footwell lights staying on regardless of whether doors are open or not; front electric windows only going up when doors are open. Wipers and subroof stopped working. Heater fan intermittent. The car still drives ok and lights seem ok. I had assumed that this variety of strange behaviour must be a result of wiring loom issues but maybe your solution could be the case. This all seemed to start at once one frosty morning when everything was on at once - heater lights wipers etc.
You've probably checked but those on the Mercedes forum are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I can't take any credit for the advice. One other thing, see if you can isolate it to one relay set as that could be helpful in diagnosing too.

Good luck.

Considered swapping my Maser for one of these before I piled money into it - but the really good ones are rare. This one is almost perfect:

Strong asking at £17k though with 100k miles.

I understand your argument but would a 'Mog do this?

You really want a Porcedes smile I loved the one in the Porsche museum. The 280GE Rally Support vehicle was so slow and could not keep up with the 959, that Porsche installed a 928 S4 5.0 32v lump in the G-Klasse. The thing finished 2nd overall In the Rally of the Faraohs behind the 959...

They're lovely things, I'm not up on pricing but that does sound steep

There is not another more expensive for sale right now. There are some starting at 9 grand. This e63 looks interesting for similar money going off the description which is all over my head except expense thrown at it and it has the p30 with lsd option. I think I'd prefer the newer car in drug dealer colours with that hand built v8 masterpiece. Surely a better bet than an e60 m5 too.

That 964 is incredible. But it will be eye wateringly expensive, so will end up never getting driven. It will sit in someone’s cool lectionary for 5-10 years, before another collector buys it and never drives it.

Such a shame that some of the most fabulous cars to drive that have ever built will hardly ever get driven.

It’s why events like The Revival, or even something like The Scamble are enjoyable for me.

The typical W124 wiring loom problems usually affect the engine bay only on post-facelift cars

On later cars lots of faults can be traced to the inconvenience relay - it piggybacks on the window & sunroof feeds and can cause havoc with those

No heater fan can be caused by a corroded fuse going high resistance. The fuse holder then heats up and the base of the holder sinks into the plastic of the fusebox, propelled by the spring at the other end of the fuse. The solution is to wire the heater fan via an external fuse

I'd start by cleaning all the fuses & holders with a Scotchbrite pad and go from there. If you can source decent fuses just replace them all

Interior lights are live all the time and use a switched earth. The earth comes via a door switch or other means
