I must say it has been really nice to see Zwolf pop in a couple of times recently with some typical megabeard facts. thumbup It won't ever go back to the pace of a few years ago of say 10-20 posts per day every day but it seems a fair few folk still keep an eye on it and chip in when they feel like it.

At times it has been/is very cliquey but it has always been diverse and entertaining. I miss some of its previous incarnations and posters to be honest.
I don't disagree at all.

Does it have the full length we as to sunroof? Always thought they made that big old !Benz an excellent summer bus.

I've just joined the MB club to gain access to the parts catalogue. I suspect you may benefit from the same and also discounts on parts etc.!

Good luck smile
It does indeed, seems to be fairly well kitted out in general. Thanks for the MB Club tip, must check it out

TBH I'm not the biggest of SUV fans, but I heard it was up for sale and I always fancied that engine. Worst case scenario it'll make another E34 M5 afterward look like a sensible reliable choice wink

The cl class really are very nice cars, easily tempt BMW users away from them. Especially the 2007 onwards cars, they're very nice indeed.

I've been wondering for a while what's the cheapest way into an AMG, and now think I may have found it - well in terms of purchase anyway! Plan is to get a few bits tidied over the winter and then rock down to the likes of the LeMans Classic again next summer in it, boot full of tents and the like - assuming it makes it that far biggrin

Should be picking it up next week, so will be drinking plenty of Dr Pepper before then!

Awesome purchase Sir, and the very essence of the thread title, good luck with all the oily bits.

Would love to have a drive of one to see what they're like. When I see one of these I sometimes think back to the 308 GTS Loon sold to whatshisname on here and what a bargain it seemed at less then £30k.

I was down around Goodwood this morning and dropped in to see if anything was on - the Brighton & Hove Motor Club are having a sprint event today and there was a tasty array of stuff getting ready. cool I had a quick wander around, highlights for me were a Lotus Elan, a MkII Jag, a MkII Cortina with a ferocious sounding V8 and a GT4 Aston Vantage.

Here's the entry list:

Oh, and parked over near the cafe on the outside of the circuit was a Porsche 924 GTS, red with weiss gold wheels. My god they look good, so low, compact and pumped.

I went to grab some random photo and Jesus, it was this very car!

Lots of love for the big CL here. Either in the gentleman's V12 format, where it proves a highly compelling rival, in the marketplace of my mind, to that 90s paragon the Bentley Continental R, or in slightly loucher "casual shoes" style the charged bent 8 of the 55K.

I viewed a twin turbo V12 one (the post 2003 CL600 often but erroneously referred to as an AMG) in beautiful Almandine Black, but a combination of the wet boot floor, the vendor's grammar and sheer fear of the coastal shelf of bork that lurked beneath the gleaming paintwork put me off. £5k would have been but the entry ticket to a festival of automotive wallet shredding. Reader, I folded.

Sounds like a black cab at idle, not that quick, would love one!

Didn't you have a drive in a homage a little while back that was subsequently up for quite reasonable money?

Currently using E60 545i for wafting duties. Was second car, but gave up company car 4 years back and run 25-35k a year without issue.

Due for change now so Looking at the E55/E63 or replacements, always admired the noises made. Some Interesting offerings on here for sure!

I have the M635CSi for coupeing about in so the V12 S65 or earlier, rarer, S70 always appealed hugely but as others have said, with Continent crushing ability comes continent shelf sized bork....

Not really, no. You need to look past that (think re-hash of every forum post you've read, ever) and enjoy the content for what it is. It's a printed version of this and the 1-5 thread you can flick through on the bog.

It also seems to have become a platform for people selling their cars - it's amazing how many of the featured cars are either already for sale, or appear in the classifieds the moment the mag lands on news stands.

Good man!

Early CLK55s and E55s feature heavily in my eBay watchlist, just to see what that engine is like.
