Otherwise 435i x drive convertible which is probaby impossibly rare in tres pedales.
On the 4wd mini suv theme what about an old school fat boy vitara?

NA not essential but definitely preferred unless there's no alternative. Otherwise 435i x drive convertible which is probaby impossibly rare in tres pedales.

SUVs are out as that takes us to the realms of a two car solution, admittedly easier but lack of space for two cars is an issue.

On face value it seems a little strange to care enough about cars to want manual and N/A, and yet the most feasible candidate is an A4.Output Flange said:

On face value it seems a little strange to care enough about cars to want manual and N/A, and yet the most feasible candidate is an A4.As mentioned a page or three back I'm thinking of selling the pretendy Frogeye and getting a 987 Boxster instead because having a cute and attention-grabbing car which costs absolutely nothing to run and which sits there happily not depreciating at all just isn't edgy enough...
Before I get too entrenched in Boxsterdom is there anyting else I shouldn't be overlooking in the quest for a fun and reasonably quick £10K convertible for weekend/driving holiday use? Looks like the 10K Caterham 7 train has well and truly sailed now so that option's gone, unfortunately.

Yeah that's kinda me really I think it was a comment on here, very likely from yourself, to the effect the Box was a much better drive than a Z4 that set me off in that direction. But the more I read the less reassured I'm becoming about keeping a lid on the ownership costs.
OTOH whilst I don't dislike the Z4 to look at the Box is aesthetically, in the right colour, where I'd much rather be sitting.
Out of interest how are 987 values trending?
Having owned a Z4C as a weekend car for just over a year, my overall opinion is a positive one.
The only points I would make that prevent the Zed rating higher for me are the numb electric rack (we're talking modern-day-sales-rep-spec-Audi numb) and jumpy 1st gear. The CDV mod improves 1st gear but doesn't eradicate the issue.
Having said that, the car cost me nothing in my ownership, looks great, is rare and has an engine smoother than silk.
HTH.

Cheers that's useful. I'd be looking at well under 5K per annum. The Frog often does only a few hundred a year, although the rationale for changing into something a bit more modern is to extend bearable range, hopefully out into Europe. MattHall91 said:

Hmm. Having just had a shufty at the classifieds I'm feeling pretty unmoved tbh. I don't doubt it's fast and capable, it just doesn't seem like a substitute for the raw snortiness of the Frogeye. I think the Boxster might have more of that with the flat 6 just behind your ears, but not so much as to be exhausting on a long run.The only points I would make that prevent the Zed rating higher for me are the numb electric rack (we're talking modern-day-sales-rep-spec-Audi numb) and jumpy 1st gear. I will keep my eyes open and try one though, just to be sure.

Lovely part of the world to drive around in with the roof down but can become treacherous in the colder months and very wet in an instant at any time of year. Single parking space at home, so one car. Daily driven so reliable and no crazy running costs.
Lots of different boxes to tick and a varied selection of options as it turns out.......A4 to 996 C4

4C is available to pick up tomorrow!
Realistically have to wait till Saturday to pick it up though Have to drive the Pork back down to Devon, then fly up to Manc to get the car.
I hate waiting

Given the way in which you've described what you're after, I'd say a 3.0Si wouldn't be for you. An M may well change your opinion, though. This is based on me having owned both. The Boxster will still handle better, though.I will keep my eyes open and try one though, just to be sure.
