Full size plate please.
I agree. Cut down plates to accentuate a number are just shouting: 'Look at me and my plate. I've got a short number, I've got money, I've got swarovski crystals glued to my Rolex and a hole in my shirt sleeve so that you can't miss it!' LOOK AT MEEEEEEEE!

Regular plate with small number: 'Oh, really, meh, didn't think about it'. Bit classier... wink
Insecure much?
biggrin It's a piece of white plastic that 99% of the population wouldn't even look at

I’ve a question about acquiring a number plate currently assigned to a car. It means nothing to anyone but I want it. I know what it’s on, I know where it resides based on MOT history. I’ve also established it’s a taxi so would see it about.

So has anyone here approached anyone about buying a plate? A stone cold approach to a stranger wanting to buy something they probably don’t think has value in it?

You’re better off offering to buy the whole car, one of mine I bought over 20 years ago together with a mk4 Cortina estate for £500, I pulled the plate off and scrapped the car.

Hmm. Ok. Thing is, it’s a London taxi. But the car isn’t in London.

I've put a note on the windscreens of a couple of cars over the year's, i acquired "EGG 80X" that way which was the original plate for a old VW Golf..

I have also had a solicitor write to me on behalf of a client wishing to purchase my number...! Don't have a clue how they got my details...? But it's not for sale anyway...!

I’ve never bothered cutting mine down, but I think that looks pretty good.

Used to see EGG 80X regularly around Leeds, currently on an Arnage I believe.
Saw 30 YS on a black Range Rover in Leeds city centre on Friday night.

The funny thing is it was on a local car when I spotted it... I then let one of the national agencies advertise it only for it to be sold to a local company who are involved in the manufacture of Egg Box's

I didn't try to buy it, but around Cambridge years ago was a Metro with the original plate of HER 80Y supplied new from Marshall Cambridge. Now on a Honda CR-V according to ECP's reg input.

I remember a VW beetle featured in a magazine years ago with its original plate WOW 110T, subsequently sold to the owner of a Dodge Viper.
