I wouldnt hold your breath. I have been waiting 2+ years and no word since requesting it (not previously released apparently).
4+ for me .
When you make a request, do they let you know which auction it'll be in, or do you have to look for it in every one?

Put in a bid for BAR 173Y that I missed out on by £100, half hoping it will be resold 🤔

They will email when it has been selected for auction a month or so prior.

I’ve chased it up a couple of times and they have a pretty standard response:

“This registration has not yet been selected for sale through a DVLA auction. Therefore, there is no date or reserve price set.

I have notified our auction management team of your ongoing interest in this registration. As soon as we have further information regarding this registration, you will be contacted with all the necessary information.“

Seems to be a bit of a lottery - I've know some have waited months, and others years. Quite frustrating.
I am actually hopeful that the auction "my" plate goes to coincides with the next recession and not when everyone seems to be paying daft money for everything and anything.

B41 LER would look apt on a combine harvester/tractor.

B411ERS would look great on a white C220 with eBay AMG badges and limo tints.

Very impressive bid. Did you end up paying? Seems a little strange to me.

Edit: just looked - seller has 0 feedback and been a member on eBay since 03 November. Also has 'E 30' listed for sale. nerd

Defiantly very suspicious...! " J1 " has belonged to The Marquees of Ailesbury Estate for decades so very surprised to see it pop up on Ebay....!

have been watching today's auction on one of my screens while working smile not sure I can entirely fathom out why some registrations go for more than others - some you can see why they might be wanted (e.g. 1959 LR - £2,500) but others are very strange... was interesting to watch K111RKS sell for £6,500 - I might have been tempted by K1RKS, but not with 111 in there - but presumably some long lost cousin has bought it!

might possibly have ended up buying 2 JFY wink (£1,800) not for any specific reason other than to go on a car... bought it as meaning nothing at all, however Jiffy is a good time definition - I like this:
wikipedia said:
The speed of light in a vacuum provides a convenient universal relationship between distance and time, so in physics (particularly in quantum physics) and often in chemistry, a jiffy is defined as the time taken for light to travel some specified distance. In astrophysics and quantum physics a jiffy is, as defined by Edward R. Harrison, the time it takes for light to travel one fermi, which is approximately the size of a nucleon. One fermi is 10?15 m, so a jiffy is about 3 × 10?24 seconds. It has also more informally been defined as "one light-foot", which is equal to approximately one nanosecond.
so I assume that 2 jiffys is still quite fast wink so should look good on the M5!
Alternatively I might have to name the M5 Jeffrey biggrin

"K1 RKS" sounds good value now to say it sold for £6,300... albeit in Sep 92...

I was a student then, so that was more than my budget for the whole year!
I also quite liked K1RKE (historical spelling of our name) which a student's parent had on their car...

Now I prefer plates which have no logical meaning - less in your face!
