It's weird, because I requested my year of birth and initials in same format (i.e. 12 ABC) 18 months ago, and it's still yet to go to auction.
How do you go about requesting notification when a plate goes up for sale/auction with the DVLA? Didn't see anywhere on their site unless I missed it, or do you have to ring/email?

> Personalised registration numbers (including questions about an application or documents you have received)

>> Any other personalised number enquiry

>>> Checking the availability of a personalised registration number not found on the website

Not the easiest to find - hope this helps.
Perfect thanks clap

Best of luck for this afternoon.
Thanks. Someone in the room wanted it more than me - £1k more than me in the end. Went for a shade over £3k all in.

Are you sure? This has been on a Bugatti Veyron for some time.
100% - going into the King Alfred Leisure Centre car park up Hove end, mid afternoon. Stood out a mile.
Yep, I had a mate spotted it in Brighton yesterday too on an RS6. It is still registered on Bugatti though.

In the car park at the Oulton Hall DVLA auction this morning. Plate must be worth considerably more than the car it's on.

Nice number, we’ve got a plate worth more than the car it’s on.
6 UNK ?
That would be nice, no, just my three initials and the year I made my first million hehe

It’s now on my wife’s humble Mini Clubman

I won my first ever plate at an auction yesterday too, one for the kid (when he gets older).

I knew about the fees etc. but £1500 becoming >£2000 is quite annoying!
Won ?

Won what exactly ?

First time I've ever read that spending a couple of grand leaves you with the thought you've won something, each to their own I suppose.
It's auction talk.

You either win or lose an auction. Thems the operative words.

My wife drove behind it a couple of weeks ago and rang me straight away knowing my interest in personalised plates - I did say are you sure as I thought it was on a Bugatti! She was certain it did say F1...

I quite liked these for relatively cheap plates.

Both spotted last week, this one at the Trafford Centre

This one in Liverpool

I’m not confident even with a low reserve on both I’m bidding on (£250). It takes just one other bidder with a higher budget than me and I’m out.
Yeah...uum...that's...kinda how auctions work! wink

I was always against this line of thinking BUT

Cars are going to be driverless sooner rather than later and at some point a number plate will be an outdated way of identifying a car. In 5 years all kinds of more modern ways could be used.

Maybe one for conspiracy theorists but I don’t know if I’d be sinking bit money into one now

An awesome spot in Hove, F1 on an RS6 Avant, photo is a double whammy and Greg must have felt a little insecure seeing this! Greg will go in the other thread.
