A couple seen today:

PUR 111 - Mercedes S600 Maybach. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was owned by Nottingham businessman Nat Puri.

777 TTV - Peugeot 306. The owner also has T777 TTV.

Funny thing is, with this series of numberplates, you can not personalise it, so owner must know somebody at the Belgian DVLA wink

On that note, anyone any idea of the German system? I ask as I saw a proper hippy wagon on German plates with the plate AC. ID then some numbers. Do the Germans do 'funny' plates?

Yes they do. But the first letters of the number plate stipulates the town where you live, so in this case AC = Aachen. The rest of the numbers/letters you can apply for with the local gouvernment.

That's my mother in law's Mini.

The plate was bought for £50, but that was before my wife was born. And she's now 43.

They have had plenty of offers to buy it, including one from Harry Webb back in the 1970s.

More recently they were offered a mind boggling amount of money from a Portuguese footballist who was playing for Manchester Rovers at the time.

Funnily enough, it's always been on Minis, both BMW flavoured ones and, before that, proper ones.

Thanks, new spot
Cracking! Not quite an original combination, the car is from 1921 and the plate 1904 (Somerset) - I wonder if they have been together since 1921?

150 W on a FFRR. Is it an old original or recent issue?
Sorry for late response and sorry if someone has answered already. It's a DVLA sale plate - 'W' was issued in reverse in 1960 by Sheffield, but only from 1001 up.

Nice! You probably already know this, but that is properly old - issued by Southampton in the first batch of registrations issued on 3rd December 1903.
