Does anyone know the history / backstory of that plate ? I thought the DVLA only auctioned un-released plates and not re issues ?
I ask because my dad has told me on many occasions that years ago (back in the 60's) his friend had that plate on a Morris 1100 (a la Fawlty Towers) which belonged to the blokes sister. I never expected to see it on a car, so I'll tell him it's still around.
His friend also had the plate, 1 CUM
You are correct DVLA only auction un-releleased numbers and according to Noel Woodall's "Car number's" book ANN 1E was never released until 1989.. I ask because my dad has told me on many occasions that years ago (back in the 60's) his friend had that plate on a Morris 1100 (a la Fawlty Towers) which belonged to the blokes sister. His friend also had the plate, 1 CUM
1 CUM is an original release..

I was bored so checked the green numbers of sold plates on the Yet To Be Found list
Thanks for that but the list is a little out of date as I didn't remove recent new spots.Friend saw 7 G the other day but forgot to take a pic
I also suspect G 2 on the site is actually a Gibraltar plate
